Press releases are catching on in the online business world as an effective tool for promoting a business or website. But press releases aren't new. They've been around for just over a hundred years, and that staying power is a testament to their success. The Web now broadens the benefits of press releases.

    Benefits of Press Releases
    • News coverage or exposure on niche sites, news outlets, and more.
    • Highly-targeted traffic to your website.
    • High quality, relevant, and often permanent backlinks to your company's website.

    Press Release Writers

Press release writing is also a rapidly-growing business, with all kinds of writers trying to get into the "game." Because most of these new press release writers have no actual credentials in PR, the releases they write are often hardly more than a generic article thrown into a news release template. These kinds of press releases can damage your company's image, essentially lumping you in with press release spammers, making it more difficult to get your news picked up by serious outlets in the future (including the quality backlinks and traffic often resulting from those pickups).

Don't let inexperienced or unqualified press release writers damage your company's credibility!

Sure, spending $10-50 to have a news release written can seem attractive. If you don't care about your company's reputation, you have no reason to spend more than that.

If you do care about your reputation, are you sick of seeing your business name attached to generic articles passed off as press releases? Are you tired of having press release writers push the exact same distribution plan on every client (sometimes because they're an affiliate of the distribution site)? Are you tired of press release writers who think "manual distribution" means submitting your release to a bunch of low-quality distribution sites with low-value links and poorly-targeted direct traffic instead of actually helping you manually run a distribution campaign?

If you're fed up with poor quality press releases, and are interested in having your next press release crafted by an experienced PR pro - one who's landed media coverage, who knows what bloggers and journalists are after (from working on the receiving end with small sites to major online outlets), who can help you come up with a solid angle, and who is qualified to advise you in the most appropriate distribution model for your audience - consider giving me a shot!

    Why Hire Me?
    • I hold my degree directly in Public Relations (meaning I'm formally trained in various forms of PR writing - not only press releases, so I can consult with you on potentially better options like pitch letters or features).
    • I ran a PR firm for several years where I specialized in working with people just like you! (webmasters, online entrepreneurs, writers, and musicians mostly) I now work exclusively in PR and business writing.
    • I was one of the earlier PR professionals to actually specialize solely in online public relations, so I have a comprehensive understanding of what makes Web-based releases work.
    • I've worked on the other side of the fence as a writer and editor for large sites and networks, so I know what they're looking for when they're being pitched with news stories, especially online.
    • Even though my rates can look high compared to all of the press release writers you'll see on webmaster forums who don't have similar credentials, they're actually quite low for a specialist in the industry.
    • I'm qualified to help you choose or improve your news angle to make it more effective or more timely.
    • I'm qualified to give you advice on how to distribute your press release.

Marketing / SEO / Design Firm?

In addition to working directly with end clients, I also work with several "middle men" clients - Internet marketing firms, SEO consultants, Web design firms, etc., writing press releases for their own clients. For example, a Web design company might want to offer an enhanced package to customers that includes a press release for their new site launch, or an SEO company might want to distribute press releases for clients regularly to help with link-building. In either case, they often need someone qualified to actually draft those releases in a timely or newsworthy way that won't risk the reputation of their clients.

I'm here to help with that. My bulk rates apply for orders of 3, 5, or 10 releases in these cases for new clients. Those regularly needing more than 10 press releases monthly may be eligible for a special rate - please contact me privately for details.

Jenn is a pro at PR. I don't consider her a competitor but a colleague. It takes talent to craft a successful press release and Jenn has that talent.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Dee. :)

And for the record folks, there are VERY few people here that I would give even a little bit of credit to when it comes to knowing something about press releases. Dee is one of them. I believe she offers one of the better distribution options (correct me if I'm wrong Dee) for US releases - not simply a "I'll post your release to a few dozen crap distribution sites" service either. Since I mentioned that I'm not doing distribution for most clients at this time, consider her wholeheartedly recommended on the distribution front if you need to get your news out to a US audience... after I write it of course. ;)

That depends on previously-scheduled work, how many releases are needed, and how much information you give me versus how much I have to dig up myself.

In general, for a single release where you're able to provide all of the information I need, it's a 48-hr turn-around (based on business hours) after I get the information and payment. Today, for example, isn't a business day because it's a holiday here. If the order came in today, you would get questions tomorrow morning, and have the release within two business days of answering my questions.

    Reasons it might take longer:

    1. You have no news angle in mind, so I have to research more into current news in your niche / industry to try to come up with something.

    2. You're releasing something like a software package and you want me to test it out before writing about it.

    3. I have a completely-booked schedule with other projects (while this happens a lot, I can usually still squeeze in a single release after-hours or something, but I'd turn down larger quantity orders).

    4. If it's an order for 3 or more releases, it will probably take an extra day or two to get them all together.

PM me if you have any other questions.
