site:yoursite.com will tell you if you are indexed or not. Sign up for Google Webmaster Tools and you'll get a whole lot more information about your site.

You can also give this little tool on my site a try: http://www.lookwho.biz/tools/serp/

Put your address in the first box, without the http://, and the keyword/s you want to check for in the second box and tick the search engines you want to try and how many pages deep you want to check.

nice tool, wasn't familiar with it. i personally use http://googlerankings.com/ and http://www.shoemoney.com/serps.php tool.

@ OP, you can use these tools to check where your site ranks for your keyword. you can also use google analytics to get more info about your traffic.

There are a very large number of online tools to do this for you, a couple which were listed above. I myself don't always trust online tools and prefer to check by hand. Type either of these into google search and you should have your answer:
    site:yourdomain.com (or site:www.yourdomain.com)
    info:yourdomain.com
