I'm looking for a social networking script, willing to pay from $1 - $500 and of course im reading reviews here in DP and alot of people seem to like Alicia, ok fine..good reviews..supposedly clean smooth coding, all that stuff. but dont they understand that these social networking sites attract alot of teenagers and most teenagers want to be able to post graphics, and stuff all over their pages. not black and white text. dont these companies understand that? jesus christ,, simply look at the top ones, myspace,friendster,hi5,, it's not so difficult, tha's why facebook is overrated.
You may try Drupal: it's an open source CMS (based on PHP and MySQL) so it's free. But the learning curve is a bit steep (it is for me right now). ;-)
A web-developer with the skills to make a facebook accepting $500? I hate to disagree with you, but that almost belongs in the joke section (if there is one around here). Unless you are talking about a standard script that is not as complex?
Before you start complaining about programmers and their lack of understanding, please fix your grammar and spelling to an acceptable level. I can tolerate it to some extent and in most cases don't really care but when you rant about others not being able to understand what you are looking for, I expect you to do so in a manner that others wouldn't complain about your writing. That said, $1 to $500 isn't much. Like SuperEx said, increase your budget.
Steven and SuperEx are completely correct. I run a web development company, and for a basic social network with the general utilities that you think of when you think of a social network, I wouldn't charge less than $5k, and we all stay plenty busy.
$500? Forget it. As a web developer, that is both offensive and repulsive. If your budget were more like $5k, I could imagine some sort of project, but $500 will buy you...nothing even close to what you want. Jason
