    I've been using http://www.pdfforge.org/ and what the pdf files are often no bigger than the original word documents - and that's quite a significant thing.

    If you're using windows just right click on the word document, then click open with, look for adobe reader and press open. It should be in a pdf file now.... There! Problem Solved!!! :D

    Check out fr*rt.com mate they provide a simple way to convert doc to pdf online and also supports pdf to doc for free, I think this site might solve your problem.
