I also would like to ask another question relating to your issue, if someone has the domain for example, www.de.net, and offer sub domains, can he legally charge for the subdomains??, for example, casino.de.net

as far as PR concern, its all about Content. Imo

any domain can rank better, its all about how much effort are you putting it in, just be careful,

Subdomain is a risk, what if person who actually owns the domain from where u get the sub domains, chooses to exit one day, this put your subdomain to an end, and wasting lot of hard work, rather get domain and get the rank for it.

    Regards

Do not buy a subdomain from some body who owns a domain. You can get cheap domain registrations and create your own subdomains and use them. I agree with the risk factor mentioned above.

The risk factor is always there for subdomains or plain domains
The difference is that with subdomain names there is the ICANN organization to supervise the procedure in other words a guarantee.
If the owner of the base domain is a reputable source like centralnic (for the names you mentioned above) i don't see why i don't get some domains from them too

Subdomains can rank better than the actual site, it just all depends on the subdomain and how you develop it from there. If the subdomain makes more sense, like a keyword, then go for it.
