making1*million.com (remove the * and add www.) published one of my articles on "traffic from Google news" (Probably from rss) without giving me any kind of credit nor asking. (Yet again if its rss then its understandable). The article contains a hotlinked image from my blog as well as my referral link. On one hand he is spreading my referral links for me, on another I can have a load of fun if I switch the image to a massive cock or something Sooo... what shall I do? 1) Nothing and let my referral link sit there. 2) Ask him for some credit. 3) Ask him to remove my content completely. 4) Ask him to remove my content completely and replace the picture to something funny. 5) Just replace the pic and see what happens. Any other options? -edit- http://tinyurl.com/45wb7d NSFW (Image will be back to normal in 10 minutes)
Why would I want to make somebody's life a pain because of a lousy article? I think that's a bit too harsh.
I'm tempted to say #1 just for the referral link but tbh, #5 is much more fun. I once discovered a site related to hairdressing was hotlinking one of my images as part of their design. I couldn't help myself and did an .htaccess redirect specifically for any requests from that site for that one image. I think the new image I served to it said something like 'Rat-tail extensions'. So I would say #5 but tailor it to suit the site that's hotlinking.
I am going to go for option 5 Lets have some fun. I'm afraid the link in the first post might turn somewhat NSFW soon.
Do it via .htaccess. That way you don't even have to change the image on your site and no-one can have you for pron on your server as they'll never be able to find it.
I suck at htaccess. So you suggest I redirect hits coming from that website to some pic on a 3rd party server? Il give it a try but I might mess it up a little bit PS: I have an adult server for naughty things anyway
If i were you, i wouldnt ask him to remove the content, i would ask him to give credits and if he didnt then i would replace the pic to something "improper"
i like the image idea...a lot. so i'm waiting to see what you do. whats the original image? i didn't see anything on that site.
OMG! That's hilarious -- though it would have just been nice to get an email. In my experience though, I've found the owner either a) tells me to take a running leap into a cool, dark lake or b) ignores me completely. Good pic. May contain nuts, indeed.
OOOOps, I have only just realised that they gave me a backlink in resources in the footer. I feel like a c*** now lol I might put the image back on.
