    I think you mean sitelinks

the theory with sites is sitelinks are given by google when you get a good website navigation system that google likes. Along with other factors such as back links.

I think a website with sitelinks should be worth more because it shows that the site has a few good factors if google awarded it with sitelinks.

Authority links are links coming from top ranked and highly trusted sites by search engines... It's hard to get some links from authority sites though linking to those that are related to your industry might help you find them.

This is probably the best description. To get links from those sites I would suggest look for sites that have forums or allow comments and post on those. A good example of this is adobe.com.

I think you can actually find some package in the link section selling information on where you can post on those authority sites.

Authority links are site with large numbers of inbound links from similar well linked sites, have been online for a while and tend to be content heavy.

    Aira defined it succinctly.
I cant post links yet, but put the http:// in front of
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authority_site
They are also sometimes referred to as 'white list' sites or part of the 'central core'. Inktomi's list was found i think in 2000 and people loved the find.

If you have java enabled, and i recommend firefox, go have a looksie at

    orgnet.com/inetindustry.html

put the http etc in front of that. they wont let me post links yet.

i think that will give you the concept.

Remember, it isnt just that central core. But you can get links from people who are LINKED TO from the central core. The closer you can get to that.......

This used to be accomplished via paid links, from text link brokers, if you will. But now they have to use the a href nofollow attribute or risk not passing any juice.

that market is about dead now, imo, unless you can TEST TEST TEST and rebuild.

    sheds,

it is probably true that pr3,4,5,6 may be authority sites, depending on the niche. There can be a difference in terminology here.

There are the gold-standard, central hubbed, authority sites that make up the backbone of the internet (and the human traffic on the internet), and then there are authority sites of a particular niche, say an 'alaskan malamute' dog site that has been around since 1998.

the alaskan malamute dog site may only have PR5, but it is KNOWN by the search engines the most for 'alaskan malamute' for whatever reasons their algorithm deduces (usually by analysis of backlink patterns).

So I will adjust my post accordingly, and thank sheds for demanding only the best answers.

    :)

It should also be noted that just because it IS an authority site, doesnt mean it is going to be in the top 10 query results for a given term, either.

There are PR2 websites in the top 3 results, yet they are not considered authority sites.

Lastly, it should be recognized that there is little, absolute evidence that there IS a list of authority sites. Instead, it is just how the algorithms work out, and is not a particular 'list', and changes over time. Very little is absolute on the net.

IMO, links from .edu or .gov sites are counted as authority links.
    Not sure though.
