The powerful of SEO is the one who has number of great connections. SEO is about connections, we cannot do anything alone in the business.

Yes, but there is a limit as to how much one can know about SEO. Google's algo is complicated but it's not rocket science. There are only about 20 factors Google takes into account.

Why would I drop out of the thread? I started it.

There are about 20 main factors. After that its just splitting hairs.

Sorry, there are easily thousands of factors when it comes to relevant search results. If we were to talk so called "primary" factors then your looking in the hundreds.

No, factors (algorithms) change often and it's impossible to keep track of them all, not to mention many of the primary factors aren't even know by webmasters. Following a few simple rules is the key....

    • Quality Unique Content
    • Properly Structured Content
    • Properly Structured Web Pages
    • Proper Internal Linking
    • Content Made for Humans
    • KISS "Keep it simple stupid"

You want to learn? Read the Search Engine Optimization FAQ [link: sitepoint.com] and Chris Beasley's SEO Guide [link: websitepublisher.net]. Neither costs a thing (not even money) other than time and bandwidth, and both will teach you what you need to know. This is of course, assuming you know how to properly build a Web site to the latest industry standards (and layout tables aren't the latest industry standards).

Very true. I have received some excellent free advice from ssandecki. Much appreciated.

I would say that among the posters I respect the most are sweetfunny, ssandecki, and Dan Schulz (in no particular order).

You must spread some Rep before giving it to Jim4767 again.

I can't give you rep, but the above sentence is validation you're pretty knowledgeable yourself. ;)

Thanks, sweetfunny. I seem to have an intuitive sense of what works, but I'm far from being the technical expert that you good folks that I named are. I always enjoy (and profit from) your posts and those of ssandecki and Dan Schulz, among others.

BTW, I'll turn 65 this month and began webmastering at age 60. It's never too late to learn, and I am amazed at the technological knowledge those of you in my adult children's age bracket have learned. Contrary to the old saying, "old dogs CAN learn new tricks." :)
