Hi, apologies if im asking stupid questions, ive been on the DP forums and ive found some great great stuff regarding web marketing and the like on here.

I am interested in setting up a website selling travel related products and services, Ive been on word tracker and found some great key words.

My question is - what would the perfect high ranking website have

e.g loads of back links, loads of orignial content so on and so forth

Im trying to decide where to best allocate resources.. cheers in advance

The perfect high ranking site would have lots of things - backlinks, original content, great offers, an attractive affiliate program with large number of affiliates etc. etc.

Unfortunately, that does mean that you need a lot of resources or money in lieu; if you're forced to allocate, there could be shortfalls.

Instead, think of it step by step. The perfect site is your end goal - maybe 3 - 6 - 12 months from now. For today, what can you do with your available resources to take it one step forward? And tomorrow, and so on.

Look at building sustainable revenue and reinvesting back into further developing your site. It's important to START generating revenue asap, even if it's just a few bucks initially; over time, you want this to be self sustaining.

    Best wishes

    Cheers for the speedy reply

What im thinking of is to setup a site with 50 great articles on travel stuff initally selling products and adwords ect. Is that enough?

in other words is having a 'good' site enough to get a site making 100 a week - or isit recommend to buy links and forum posts ect as advertised on this forum. And if so where should i begin.

I have some money to spend but not much, I am a programmer so i dont need help with that sort of stuff, but i am in the dark about the whole website marketing thingie.

This is definiately a long term project for me, my business model is to setup the first site making 100 a week which i believe is attainable.

Google for "bum marketing" - there are some free reports that talk about how to start earning through affiliate products and/or adsense, using free article sites to drive traffic.

Buying links and forum posts can form part of your strategy later, especially since you mention "I have some money to spend but not much".

Start by using free traffic methods, to check that your site / sales page etc. do convert reasonably well. Once it does, you can start experimenting with paid traffic methods including adwords / other pay per click sources, forum posts and links etc. etc. etc.

That way, you pay for expenses from earnings - and keep your cash in reserve to restart the pump.
