This may sound like a stupid question but let me begin by saying I'm an avid blog reader. I'm also an avid blog writer. Occasionally I will read an interesting post or two and leave a comment with my opinion about it. My comments are never spammy and always on topic (I guess that's why they're always approved)..Anyways, of course when leaving a comment I will throw my name (not keyphrase - but first name or company name) in the name box and my url in the website box. When doing so does this count as a good backlink or does wordpress use the nofollow tactic on blog post comments?
WordPress comments are by default nofollow but there are blogs which use plugins to remove the "nofollow" default tag in the comments.
Thanks allot you guys. rep left for your helpful answers!..BTW Dan, I went to school in Aurora originally from naperthrill!
What the hell are you doing down in Houston then? Come back here! (Especially since the Cubs are making just about everyone else in baseball look bad right now. )
Including the Astro's..lol. I certainly don't miss the winters up there! A few things I do miss: Portillo's, Connies, and Garrets popcorn..mmmm...Got me thinking I may need to make a trip up there sometime around the beg. of July
Connies is good. Portillos is basically hit-and-miss these days. Never tried Garrets popcorn though. Then again, I don't eat much popcorn to begin with, so take that as you may... Hit me with a PM before you come up here.
In addition to the above, most blog -owners will usually boast their do-follow status on their website for all to see. However a simple highlight and view code over your link will show whether the comment is a do follow or no follow. As a blog reader I must say I sometimes click the URL's of comment-authors, so even if the blog is a no-follow one, do not hesitate to drop your info in the basket.
Wordpress comes with nofollow by default, but a plugin is available to make it do follow. So most of the time you will find no-follow.
By default they are nofollow. The inception of nofollow was for this very reason, to prevent blog commenting spam.
