Is this link farming/spamming

Ok so quick question here. This also drives me a bit crazy.

Guy i know has about 900 websites all on one server. All in the same niche.
Has one main site and the other 899 are little 1 or 2 page niche sites.
All lead to the main site if you click on any info on the niche sites.

Now its been like this over a year and its working!.

Now I would imagine this is against Googles TOS right?
Will this eventually get penalized? Main site has like a PR2
Not sure of the traffic stats, but I know he is making money.

Just like some other thoughts on this. Ha even the title on the main site has like 500 keywords/phrases. Yes 500 its redic! How has it not gotten penalized yet?

 

What i feel, we can not say spamming, on our website we do have as many as link we want.
Still there are some restrictions from Google side...
still why do you want to implement these kind of pages?

 

I think this is grey hat seo, will probably work for some more months to come before the googlebot, yahoo slurp + other indexing bots figure this out.
But if all the links are coming from the same ip, i would recon that the search engines would disregard them or not value them as highly, but obviously not.

 

The little sites are "Doorway Pages" without a redirect. The only action a user can take is to get to the main site. It's a form of index spam and he'll get caught eventually. Not a good long term strategy.

 

Yeah long term I dont see that working for him. And yeah all the same ip .What kills me is its been over a year and its still working.
Not to mention the title spamming. its insane lol.

 

Sounds closer to black hat than grey hat. Everyone says they make money but no one knows the real truth. I seriously doubt he will be successful using this method.

 

Just report him via Google Webmasters Central if your so concerned about it; considering your wondering why he wasn't penalized yet.

Nah im not out to get this guy just looking at his tactics and trying to create my own. Im never out to ruin someones sites. In the long run it wont last, but like I said it has been a year and he is making $$$ and I know that for a fact.

it depends.... If these 900 websites are made for human - they will live almost forever. if they are spam like websites - links will not take into account. If 900 are doorways - they will be banned, but main site will be ok.

Just imagine. GoDaddy - more than 10,000 websites on one IP.... I can buy 100 -1000websites on the same IP and link all of them to website I don't like. Will google ban target site?

Yes this is definitely blackhat. If you know what you are doing black hat can be effective in the long run.

Good strategy, but Ive been told by some people that this is right in googles handbook about what not to do. I mean really anything you do to get an edge on google could be held against you.
On the other hand these one page sites do have relevant info to what someone would be searching for so I mean it is legit information. I guess its a fine line. All up to the Google gods to decide.

 

Google may well have already noticed and decided not to pass PR/ link juice from any of the 900 sites to the main site already. How well connected is the site apart from the 900 doorway or satellite sites?
