How to un-protect a folder that is protected?

    Good day,

I have Apache up and running smoothly, but one of the folders in my site is currently password protected. I cannot see and .htaccess or .htpsswd files located in the area of this folder.

Where would I go to see where these changes can be made please?

    Awaiting your response.
    Thanks

    Hi

most likely you are not watching the files properly

Only .htaccess and .htpasswd are used to protect folder

Is it a dedicated hosting or shared hosting?

Have you looked for .htaccess in parent folder might be that causing problem

    Regards

    Alex

On dedicated hosting or your own server those files might be outside the public_html or var/www directory.

Ooyes may be right too and those files can be hidden but easy to find with a proper ftp program to get them shown or try by typing ls -a at your ftp/shell command line prompt

if you can ssh, then just do rm FOLDER/.htaccess
if ftp then upload a blank .htaccess to FOLDER/.htaccess
