Anyone used LiquidWeb before? If so, what are your experiences with them?

They're prices for server seems good and their management service also looks good as it's included in the price.

What do you think?

 

Yeah, I m using Liquidweb for one of my VPS and a Harpertown server. They are good. Comparing with all other managed services, i would say, they are quite good. One common problem with their service is, the system administrators of Liquidweb are not highly trained like the Softlayer CSA (Though, Softlayer's CSA do not provide support like a managed service does), but they are very much friendly. Most important thing with Liquidweb is, you can call their center from anywhere and get your server backed up when its down through their tech, you won't get this so fast done by Softlayer CSA (General techs are not really professional in Softlayer) as its not a managed service. Liquidweb latency is a bit high comparing with Softlayer's server. I personally experienced this issue and found the truth in last month.

Though, if you are planning to run some shared hosting services, then you should proceed with Softlayer for all the flesibilities it has. But Liquidweb can always be in your choice list, for the quality hardwares, gentle support assistance and the valuation of gentle network. And if you are the only system admin in your team, then you should proceed with liquidweb to increase the possibility of keeping the server up all time

thanks for the detailed response mellow, appreciate it. I took a look at softlayer as well and their prices intrigues me as well. Thanks nonetheless, will be making my decision soon.

 

I m having 7 servers from SL and 1 from LW. One common suggestion i can give you, is to take a look at SL Specials:

Wait for next weekend, there will be weekend special too which usually provides much more addons

Is the double default RAM and HDD special on their specials page valid this weekend?

 

I believe they have a different special each weekend

 

They do repeat the specials pretty often... I got the Double RAM and Double HDD on my server and saved me tons of money... almost 100$... so I would recommend you go SoftLatyer rather than LW...

 

Out of 4 DC and 9 Servers I still say hands down. http://caro.net/ is by far the best of every aspect!
Support goes above and beyond. Experienced Just have a 5 Minute chat with Dave and Mark or even Jason!

Second I do Know LW don't host proxy sites. Bummer them being in my home state. I would have went to them last Year!
As far as performance / Network goes the best I have used was Caro.

SL prices on same servers are high.

Contact Mark@ Caro.net TRY there service / support / network for 1 Month!

There are 6 other host on DP that we have told to try Caro and they now have and maintain Servers at Caro.

SoftLayer allows proxies?

 

As far i know, without IRC, you can host everything else. Though, you can host IRC on the Private Network to communicate, but using it on public network is not allowed. Get with softlayer, and enjoy the true difference

 

yeah SL looks good with the double HDD and RAM special. If they allow to host proxies then even better, I can finally start my proxy hosting
