maybe your site is the viral marketing type....plz explain your success......I hardly see any results when using sb for my sites.
Mikrotekblue, my site is quite simple and straightforward — a nonprofit, religious informational site (signature link #1). Through much effort adding links to social bookmarking sites, I've received about 2,000 deep links to inner pages to date. That will have at least two good effects: (1) a modest amount of referral traffic from those SB sites, which is already happening; and (2) a cumulative, positive effect in search engine rankings as those couple of thousand deep links are incorporated into the search engines' algorithmic computations concerning my website.
ok your site is very controversial (meaning it attracts your wanted audience) and that is why it works for sb... most ppl dont have religious sites... for example...a site about mortgage qoutes wont work for web 2.0 that is my point. not all sites are fit for the web 2.0 type of methods.
Social bookmarking is THE best and fasted way to get your site indexed and gain traffic. there's no better way right now. social bookmarking + quality content = love forever
Yes for someone who just go into the game it is... I would never consider that a way to get indexed lol.
Your site can be about anything and still benefit from social bookmarking sites, just cater your content piece to be something the audiece will like. So if you have a religious site, do an article like "10 religious leaders who could be the antichrist" something interesting and attention grabbing, make it link-worthy, and you will see lots of traffic, lots of links, and eventually better search engine rankings.
Based on a recommendation yesterday from new forum member http://www.billurell.com I signed up and tried the http://www.socialmarker.com web site a couple of times. The first time through, it took me about four hours (because I had to sign up for sites, wait for verifications, etc.) The second time through, this morning, it was about half an hour. I think I dropped in bookmarks in about 30 sites. I don't know what I'm doing obviously. But it does seem like something someone could get the hang of and use successfully. BTW, I also tried the www.submityourarticle.com site that somebody (sorry, forgot who) suggested was a good $37 a month investment. I don't yet know what effect the article posts have... but it seems like it does what it says... let's you spin articles easily and then pay for manual posting at article directories.
What are using to submit to all of those sites? I really would like the search engine benefits.... cuz the traffic from social media sites has been garbage for me.... but the search engine results have been great... Thanks.
You can let the users do the social bookmarking by adding this to your site/blog: www.sharethis.com ...
I do agree that SB sites can drive untargetted traffic to sites specially if the site is new. And, I also agree with microtekblue that not all sites will work for Social Bookmarking sites. There are people who claim they are successful with SB but maybe because their stories are interesting enough that catches people's attention. Stories with interesting/controversial topics can be successful with SB with no effort by the submitter. The truth is, to be able to be successful with SB's, submitter must have a decent and interesting enough stories to submit. If your site/stories do not have this, then the only way to compensate for it is to gather a lot of friends who will "vote" for your story irregardless of its quality.
Link building with social bookmarking works like a charm. I have gotten top 10 rankings in Google for quite a number of my target keywords. I am talking about 300,000 to 50,000,000 competing pages here. You can read my blog (see sig) for a long list of 200 social bookmarking sites with PR. Sorry that I cannot include my link here.
