I have accidentally clicked on my ads a couple of times. Since I didn't get many clicks then, I noticed that they didn't pay me for the click. I didn't contact Google and they didn't contact me.

I have clicked on my own ads about 5 times because my mouse stinks and double clicks when you dont ask it too, google never said a thing and i have received 2 pay checks so far. They know, accidents happen.

I think you shouldnt worry until and unless you have clicked on the Ad's a couple of times. But yet if it really was accidental I would recommend that you contact google and let them know about it - to prevent getting banned in the near future and be in their good books as an honest publisher.

Just let google know, better safe than sorry. Mistakes happen and they realize this.

I set up AdSense some time ago but haven't really worked and just beginning
    to pay attention to it.

I've often clicked on ads so I know what web site it is so I know whether
to add the site to my competitor filter. How else could you know.. certainly
can't just hover to know the URL unless there is a method I've not learned yet.

Google really don't care if you accidently clicked an ad once, i mean thats common sense surely. Not worth starting a thread about it thats for sure.

Right click the ad, hit properties, find the link.

I was thinking about buying a Hummer maybe even a H2. I had build up a whooping $3.35 USD at Google. It then accured to me while dreaming about riding around in my H2 that I should not try and find an H2 dealer from my Google listings (risking my earnings) so I went on over to my own search engine at cybermoo.com where the screened urls and ip block list would reach all the way across the United States of America and a few countrys abroad even before my xml partners screenings.

Later on that night I was able to sleep a lot better and I also noticed that there was a lot more chicks checking out my Hummer in my dreams.

    One more step required...

After right click, double click the text, cut, paste in some editor
and then you can find the approximately 10 characters your looking
for out of almost 500 characters. Well 3 or 4 more steps but possible.
Easier to click the link and see if you want to add the site to your filter or not.

That's the "find the link" part.

Your way may be easier but it will get you banned. I'll take the extra 15 seconds and use my method.

If you're using Internet Explorer, just place your mouse pointer over the ad, and the URL will show up in your status bar (lower left corner).

There is also the Adsense Preview Tool that you can download from the Adsense site. It will show you all the ads and within the tool you can click on them without fear.

Accidental invalid clicks are a real problem for publishers using laptops, press that pad too hard and oooops.
If it is just the one click I would simply ignore it.
I think google should be able to discount publishers own clicks, would make it all a lot easier!
