Are you living "GREEN" or do you have any plans of living green?

And by green I mean being an advocate of environmental safety and preservation.

What have you been doing in order to help keep our world healthy and sustainable? Do you have any plans of switching to hybrid cars? Any plans of buying solar powered stuff anytime soon?

    Do share! :)

I don't eat meat. I ride a bicycle. Bla bla bla... It makes me feel good, but it does next to nothing for the environment.

Unless we do something about dirty industry and fossil fuel power stations, making the green switch to power efficient light bulbs (and other environmentally friendly token gestures) is about as useful as pissing up a rope.

Even that meaning can be interpreted many different ways.

The jury is still out on hybrid cars because of the issues with their batteries. Biofuels certainly seem to be doomed.

We have solar heated water and we turn off lights, don't waste water, we walk places, we recycle & compost... but when my kids had the opportunity to join the school ski squad I signed them... 30 minute drive each way, large indoor ski field which has to be kept super cold... what environmental impact does that have. Add to that the synthetic materials that their ski gear is made of, traveling to the mountains if they make the competition team. Not green at all!

If you take the time to analyse all your actions you can quickly realise that none of us are green at all.

But by feeding them you are encouraging them to reproduce and create a new generation of animals that aren't looked after adequately. Being "Green" means identifying the short term inconveniences have long term gains.

I was on holiday once and there were loads of stray cats and large monitor lizards. During the tourist season both populations had lots to eat. During the off season, when there were fewer people around to feed them and less rubbish to rifle through the lizards would eat the cats. Unpleasant but natures way of limiting a population that couldn't sustain itself.

I recycle and I don't liter either. I don't know why people liter in the first place since there are trash cans around. Are people that lazy and inconsiderate?

Since gas prices are high now and regular cars causes pollution, I'm thinking of switching to hybrid cars. I did a presentation once on hybrid cars so I mind as well put the information and resources to good use.

I guess the question will become: What are you prepared to live without?

    • No malls in the weekend - reduce traffic + emissions, electricity usage in malls
    • Use public transport only - which may mean you have to change jobs, school etc or move house
    • Reduced number of convenience outlets like fast food - cook more, grow your own food, reduce the waste from hyper-processed food
    • Only buy new clothes, furniture etc when the old have worn out - stop being a slave to fashion
