Yes, we have been successful! We submitted a site last month and checked today and it has been included! There does not seem to be any pattern to submission inclusions. Other sites we have submitted have been waiting for over a year to be listed. As the Open Directory Project is free and additions are made by editors who are volunteers, as with many other volunteer organizations, things may not run as smoothly or quickly as hoped for. I am grateful for a free directory that offers possibility that a site "may" be included.

Does that mean I'll see the Easter Bunny before I see my site listed

You can see the Easter Bunny every year around March, the same can not be said for a DMOZ listing, so yeah...

Either the Easter Bunny, or Santa Claus, depending on how fast they're moving at DMOZ this year. :D

DMOZ is a frustration. I submitted and resubmitted links to our sites to DMOZ, all of them are legit sites, and only one (blog!) was added while corporate sites of real live companies were not. And with some I've been waiting months between resubmitting and still no luck.

It's only neccessary to submit once, multiple submissions could be considered as spamming the Directory and result in being banned, and as we don't provide a listing service, no time frame is neccessary. It could take several days or several years (if at all). No site has a right to be listed, and we don't want all sites, our only goal is to build good categories of sites.

All? We would normally list just the one corporate headquarters, not all of your afilliate sites.

If you're talking about real brick & mortar businesses, they could each be listed in Regional in the locality(city) in which they are located:
    http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/

(Unless they are a chain type of business, then only the corporate headquarters would be listed, at a level that would encompass all of them, like at the country or state level)

We don't distinguish between large businesses and small businesses or consider one more legitimate than the other, each is on the same level playing field. There is no preference given to either.

Well here goes, I have placed a submission in the directory this morning for Top: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Travel and Tourism: Reservations (33)

I have placed my airport hotel site in this category and my parking, as they both offer more than just the name implies.

    Lets see how it goes

That you've spread your website across multiple domain names doesn't make it eligible for multiple listings. Only one of them will be listed (at most).

Even though each part is stand alone? Each website is linked via the main menu bar, but are considered separate!

OK, that sort of seems fair. Gosh this really is a learning curve, and I am still at the bottom!! lol

Uniforms? Oh hell no, don't be silly. You get the code book, a really cool secret handshake, and then after AOL bought it there was a cool "MOS" lapel button (Minions of Satan)... but face it, it's heck editing in a uniform. Personally I always opted for fuzzy pink slippers, a terrycloth bathrobe, and a bottle of Jack Daniels, but then I've always been kinda conservative. :-P

I have only ever submitted 2 sites to DMOZ.

The first one was accepted after 3 months (in 2006) and the second one got in 3 weeks after submission (in March this year)

So, my experience of DMOZ is very good :D

A week or so? Goodness I'm envious. My sites are still not listed after several months.
Darn it. I wonder what I did wrong. I was sure they contained plenty of unique and unrelated content. I took time to try and find the correct categories. Heck, I think even I wrote titles and descriptions to meet the ODP Editing Guidelines (http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/describing.html)! What more do those lazy volunteers want, anyway??

Oh wait, I was a meta-editor at the time, so I could have listed them myself, instead of placing them in the pool of sites awaiting review by another volunteer. Why didn't I think of that! *smacks forehead*

    :D

Hey, call me a dreamer, but I guess I just believe in the impartial nature of the directory, and the fact that site suggestions are only, well, suggestions. I realise I'm new here, but I'm almost certain this has been mentioned before. ;)
