Never Use Windows Vista

Iam the user of Windows Vista. I gone with Vista because of unavailability of other options. Windows will shutdown its support for XP after few years like they done with 98 and other operating systems.

So I brought Vista Home Edition.

    My computer configurations:
    • Core 2 duo processor.
    • I GB DDR2 RAM.
    • 160 GB Hard Disk
    • And other best available features.

    Problems suffering with Windowis Vista:
    • Taking about 3 to 5 minuets for Logging and Sutting Down.
    • Gives many error messages with good application programs.
    • It is 4 times slower than XP for any Operating System Operation like File Deletion.
    • It is impossible to think of copying a set of large files even from folder to folder.
    • Many times, computer get restarted because of malicious program (no mechanism for managing this kind of errors).

Iam sending atleast 2 error reports to them daiily. Now heard about their release of Vista Service Package. Hopping to improve my computer's performance with that. But my humble request to others is: "NEVER USE WINDOWS VISTA"

So why don't you install XP, 98 (Lite), or Linux?

If you don't like, don't use it.

Already mentioned that in the thread. Iam sticking with the Vista because Microsoft likely to be withdraw suppot of XP after few years.

So downgrading is not the best option available. Looking for the release of latest Vista service pack. I heard that is is noe available for download. But Iam waiting for auto update.. :)

And that's exactly what MS wants everyone to do/think.

You don't need "Microsoft support" to run an OS.

I still run 98 Lite on one of my old audio/MIDI PCs. And I'm still using Atari TOS on an STe, support for that wrapped up in the early 90s. There are HUGE communities of users out there using older OSs, they'll give you better support that MS could ever provide.

But Iam relying on latest softwares. Most of the applications available now doesn't supported by 98. I really to run 98. Only switched from it to XP because of unavailability of options.

I can't find any useful additional feature comparing to XP. They only provide more graphics. But graphics will make kids happy, not me. I need more performance.

Computers are tools. It doesn't matter if you're using applications from 1990 or from 2008 - and it certainly doesn't matter what OS you're using. It's the end product that matters.

If Vista doesn't work for you, you're not going to get much done using it - same with any OS.

What industry are you working in? What applications can't you run on XP?

It is always better to prefer opensource.

It will reduce virus attacks and also you can edit the OS for your use (if needed!).

I am a programmer and webmaster too :)

I'm using PS CS3 and Dreamweaver CS3 - on XP SP2. I still don't understand why you need to run Vista. But you obviously want to, even if it does "gives many error messages with good application programs."

    :)

XP with SP 2 takes much resource and I updated the OS with time to get more support for the platform from its provider.

Never thought of a platofrorm with full of errors. Now my Firefox (latest) freezed (Not Responding state) for atleast 10 minutes. Iam typing this after restarting it. Error like this is common with my OS. :)

Vista isn't actually that bad. As long as you have 2-3GB ram you'll be FINE!
