Hey gang, I've been working on a new way of delivering content, and I've created something special, I think. The challenge I face at this point is figuring out which direction to take it. First, a demonstration is in order - a few links: http://www.zingboxx.com/health_and_beauty/healthy_living.php http://www.zingboxx.com/health_and_beauty/juicing.php http://www.zingboxx.com/business_and_money/internet_marketing.php Now remember, the site has not launched, some some links may not function properly. I'm interested in hearing your feedback on the idea, but also I'm trying to determine if the type of 'directory page' approach (as the links demonstrate) is the best approach for this idea, or if a blog would be better (where each blog post contained a *single* zingboxx - my name for the gizmo - configured for a single keyphrase). I appreciate any thoughts and opinions. Best, Derek Franklin
INteresting. I like the idea. I am seeing an issue with it forcing pop ups. I can't see them with all my 40 gazillion pop up blockers (like most users have). You may want to think about how to deliver the content without using pop ups. Outside of that it looks like a very intersting way of doing things and I think the directory approach is the best way of doing it. Let me know when you are finsihed with it and I will point a link your way just because it is so creative.
That's awesome. I say use it wherever you find a use. I would make a plugin for WordPress (etc) to replace WP standard navigation, and include a link back to your site. People would really get into that... I think it could be "must have" for a lot of bloggers. Very "Web 2.0".
Good call on the navigation. I did not even notice it. Make sure to digg it when you are ready to go live too.
Hey guys, Thanks for the nice feedback! As for the pop up, I did it that way for speed. It seemed quicker to just have a new window open with results, so that my page remains open in the background. I've not had any complaints from other testers yet, but it could certainly be changed in the flick of a switch if needed. I'll let you know when I go live. I plan on making pages for tons of topics - everything from weddings to the best sitcoms of the 70's Derek
You might have an issue with the SE's parsing the flash but then again you may not. I like it, I was just having to turn off one pop up blocker after another. I have: 1 in firefox 1 in google toolbar 1 in yahoo toolbar 1 in antivirus 1 in anti-spyware 1 in plain old microsoft I may have forgetten a couple. I don't know what to tell you with the pop-ups. personally I would prefer a whole new page, but if it works for yout hen keep it. It is your site after all. I can only gape in amazement at your creativity and hope to get in during the IPO.
