Quit when you think you can bank on your online income

Adsense is fine, to add a little extra cash but it isn't where the really money is. The key online is to earn from a few different areas.

Once i hit the lottery, i'll leave the day job. The only problem is i love my day job and it's 401k benifit's. Of course i won't have a retirement fund since i live in the USA. There just won't be any money for me in 30 more years when i retire. lol

No one know's what Adsense will be like in 5 more years or if you all will still have an account. I don't count on Adsense to make me stop working the day job.

Sometimes it is better to not get what you wish for. Unless you start a company with employees, working from home alone on your computer can get very very lonely. Even sad. Many IM go to seminars just to socialize.

Also another problem is that once you have all that time to yourself at home on your computer, you might end up spending an inordinate amount of time on p*orn/gambling/gaming/forum/chat/dating sites, so productivity does not necessarily increase when you go full time if you are an average hot blooded male. Do not be surprised if you develop some strange fetishes you never knew you had. The devil DOES truly find work for idle hands.

For the twenty somethings, finding girls to fool around and flirt with gets a little bit harder when working from home alone. You will end up missing all those nice girls at the office and the silly banter with your work colleagues. Your social network can possibly start to shrink as well.

This of course does not apply to everybody or those with staff and making $100K plus a month online. With $100K to play with monthly, it is easy to buy friends and build your own non work related social network.

Well, I focus on leaving my current job within the next one or two years. Currently I'm making only 50 bucks a month, I hear many people laugh about it,
    that's ok, I know I'm a noob :)

But I think with enough time and energy it's quite possible to make a full online income (and maybe even more than that). All you need is to fight your own laziness (at least that's what I should do)...

    See ya,

I still stay with my day job because my salary is better than Adsense now.
If the earning is higher than my day job in the future, I might quit.

I think Adsense works great as a supplement to many jobs. For example, I do contract work that involves travelling to different cities and countries. There is often some "down time" where I"m in a hotel in some isolated area with not much to do. It is great to be able to get out my laptop and earn some money by working on an adsense site instead of watching tv or sitting at an empty bar. (or earn some money WHILE watching TV or sitting at a bar). Sitting in airports is another great place to work. I agree that if you dropped everything to only work on adsense websites you may get bored or have trouble focusing so it is good to at least have something else to get more interaction with people. Having another part-time job or doing contract work also sometimes helps you come up with more ideas for your adsense sites.

I just spent 5 years, and probably over $50,000 on getting my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. I just started getting into the online business world/advertising this year. Its the only thing I can picture myself doing for the next couple of years. I just wish I had realized it sooner!

I earn a comfortable amount Online, and I earn a very good amount on my job. Problem is I enjoy both the work. Though my hourly earnings online is much higher considering I put in only about an hour a day to online work..

That said, I will leave once I can get at least 40% direct visitors to my websites.. Now it is less than 2 % .. :) rest all are Google, MSN, yahoo and ASK

I can't leave my job for a business that depends 90% on google for traffic and revenue alike..

I am trying to build real portals with real type-in and bookmark visitors.. and with direct ad sales..

Most of my visitors are direct visitors. That ensures that I at least get a minimum amount per day.

That is my goal within the next 2-3 years to be earning enough from online ventures to quit the day job. Although i do only work part time now to help concentrate my efforts on the bigger picture.

I left my job because of unsuitable timmings and i suffered a lot but finally left the job. I'm using the affiliate business rather than adsense!

Leaving your job just for adsense may be bit risky. if your are not depending on just one revenue model, better.

Real job has its own advantages. Working from home can be real bore if done full time. I prefer doing online work part time. But I may start my web development firm in the near future and leave my job.
