What Do You Say When Your AM Asks To Look At Your LP?

I was just asked this, but I don't really want to disclose this information at this time. I don't want to ignore his request (as I don't want to be rude and burn any bridges), and therefore should I just tell him I'd prefer not to disclose this?

    What has everyone else done?

I would tell him you are working on it or make up a nice little white lie otherwise simply say you dont really like to share that info.

Depends what they need to see it for. If it's a ringtone offer, I believe you'd be required to show the landing page to make sure you weren't using any of the banned tactics to generate leads.

Mitch, if you read this, could you give us any assurances about AMs not being allowed to run offers themselves, or about if Azoogle runs offers that publishers run, yourselves?

I've been asked in past and i refused to show the landing page and if they ask me again then i would personally look for that specific campaign on other networks and leave their network.

Then I take it you have a meta refresh in between your landing page and the affiliate link?

Why would you be doing this if your traffic comes from reputable sources?

You realize the whole publisher <-> AM relationship goes two ways, right?

Next time you need something, I have a feeling you won't exactly be "top priority". There's more professional ways to handle a request like this other then "ignoring it", or canning the campaign and jumping networks. For starters, you could simply ask your AM "why"?

Yeah i know that. What i meant actually is if they ask twice and insist that he wants to see the landing page .I've been asked in the past and i simply replied that i just cant show the page and he said ok fine no problem and my affiliate manager is great guy btw :D.

I was actually asked this last night but being my first campaign I showed him, I was hoping for him to give me some feedback which he did so I'm happy.

I figured that he knows what works so I would want as much feedback to make it better, increasing my conversion rate. It might be different if I was successful in this and knew what I was doing.

My AM wanted to look at one of my landing pages, and of coarse I said "ok."

The problem occurred when the AM found out I was framing the offer page...and basically told me "I was not allowed to do that."

Now I actually happen to be able to "read" offer detail pages and knew it was totally acceptable to frame the offer page. Well...after hours of my AM checking with her peers/supervisors/etc., and saying "frames weren't allowed," and me saying "oh yes they are..just 'read' the details page"...it finally got resolved. It was in fact acceptable to frame the offer page...lol.

Long story short...AMs can and should be allowed to check landing pages to ensure they comply with an offer's details. BUT..if they don't like something they see there and you KNOW you're in compliance...you may be forced to explain it to them (do it nicely of coarse). "Stick to your guns" if you're sure you're right!

A few advertisers on Azoogle actually require that your landing page is approved by your AM before you begin using it. So in that case, you don't have a choice unless you want your commissions withheld. ;)

Ya I think in order to maintain a good relationship with your AM, you should probably comply.

The reason why I asked this question was that I heard horror stories about AM's stealing your ideas etc but in this case my landing page is very generic and does not reveal anything so I have provided him with the URL.

That's not an Azoogle trick... That's Thumbplay's rules. If you've ever read their direct publisher agreements and such, they're really anal about how their service is promoted, and rightfully so after all of the legal issues with ringtones.

If you don't comply, don't expect to be allowed to promote Thumbplay anymore.

Does anyone know why "Rush Limbaugh" is a prohibited term? LOL - always wondered that one.
