Has anyone else seen this? I wrote a post today, and part of it was something that I wanted to test in Google Images. It's slightly NSFW, but if you want to view it it's here. Being the good obsessive compulsive I am, I went tonight to see if it had been indexed yet. It is in web search, and ranking just fine... but then I noticed that no images were indexed in Google Images. Nadda: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=site:smackdown.blogsblogsblogs.com&gbv=2 So I started poking around. I could hardly find any subdomains where the images were indexed, unless the subdomain was "forum" (like this site is): http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&q=site:forums.digitalpoint.com That includes some of the biggies, like StumbleUpon, where every user has their own subdomain: http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&q=site:stumbleupon.com+-www Although About.com is working: http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&q=site:about.com+-www Anyone else seen behavior like this? -Michael
I am on a subdomain, and as far as I am aware, none of my images have been indexed in Google Images, after 5 months.
Simply type "Bloggers" on google image search you can find pictures from blog urls. I think www.yourname.blogspot.com is a subdomain.
Why are you so much concerned over having your web images indexed and counted by the Google image center?
I wasn't, till I ran this test and discovered that none of them are... now it bugs the hell out of me, especially since I cannot figure out a reason for it. -Michael
Because the images are linked to the website from which they originate, so people can end up there. That's traffic.
Images appear and dissapear from Google images, as they please. I have all my images there from subdomains (WP blog articles) and ranked easilly, fast and good.
