As an affiliate manager, I have to ask this question: Why do so many affiliates request payouts by Paypal? Every other post is "Where can I find an "xxx" program that pays with Paypal?" From what I've read, Paypal doesn't pay if you live in certain countries and they have the ability to FREEZE your account for ANY reason they see fit. I've read some real horror stories. It seems unreliable. Wouldn't a bank wire be more secure? You can always receive a swift to confirm the wire and there is never a question of whether the account is yours. What do you think?
Paypal is the most convenient for most affiliates. Usually, your account will not get frozen unless you are screwing around or break their TOS. A bank wire usually incurs a fee for the recipient. I have to pay my bank, Wachovia, a $10.00 fee for getting a bank wire. Jim
Well, for the most - not everyone is from US. I'm from Europe for example, and for me it is much easier to transfer my money from paypal to my bank account than receiving a check, because most of banks in my countries "don't like" much checks. Plus, fact, that paypal is quicker and has a smaller fee than check, also check if mailed in letter sometimes can be undelivered - in Paypal You do not have such possibility
Also its a bare min screening that the company is legit. If a company is doing payouts other then check/wire but not able to use paypal then affiliates should be leary
Hi Tooschee, thanks for your reply to my thread. My understanding is that a wire can never be lost, since a swift can be issued on demand. Banks are quite happy to receive wire transfers. Checks are a different matter entirely )
Hi Shoemoney, thanks for the reply. I was more curious about your take on companies that solely use wire transfers and not Paypal. A company that can neither provide a wire payout nor Paypal, I suppose, is something to be weary of. But as I have no experience working with these companies, I have no idea. Our program offers payment by wire transfer and it works just fine for our affiliates.
As Shoemoney said - payout by paypal builds some trust with affiliate program also. With wire transfer is a little problem, for example if You account number has 16 number and You need to put it in signup post, it is more difficul than just write an email (like in Paypal) Additionaly, as for me - i would not like to give any affiliates/companies my bank account number (IBAN etc.), I prefer paypal instead, for it is is kind of "bridge" between most of things. Oh, and one other important things. Currency exchange - my bank pays less when I exchange currencies from Dollars to my country currency (about 5% less than paypal, that's why if I get a bigger sum, like 500$ it is better for me to exchange it to my currency at paypal account and then send it to my bank account )
First, how does Paypal build trust? Second, you can provide your bank information via any method you prefer including email, we find it more secure to do so through the profile interface which protects all of your confidential information. If you have no trust in the affiliate program you're participating in to begin with, perhaps you shouldn't work for them?
A number of countries in Europe do not accept Paypal payment. Have you personally ever had any trouble with receiving payment from Paypal?
If You want to pay Your affiliates with paypal You need to be verified by them - if You're verified means, that You actually paid someone/bought from someone. I know I can provide my bank information - as for me - I simply do not want to do that . Mostly I prefer Paypal because of this currency exchange and the fact, that my mail is also my account .
Also meny webmasters have transfere troubles. They like paypal because hey can latter pay there hosting and domains. Not all of them have there CC. For verification you can always use dad's or mom's CC, but not for paying your bills.
because for international users its hard to recieve checks and take a lot of time, paypal payments are faster
I like epassporte the most. I got visa dibitcard from them and now I can just go to atm machine and redraw money anytime.
I think that paypal is great. You can get the money into your bank account within 3 days versus waiting for 2 weeks for affiliate checks (I love clickbank too, but it's nice to have quicker access to your affiliate commissions). I have always had good service from paypal.
Wire charge me $60... $30 affiliate network and $30 my bank.... Check take 30 days to clear. But Paypal take only 2-3 days.. And cheap too
its safer for people in their opinion, they do not need to give out there bank account info for a wire, just an email address. That being said, people should not be affiliates with programs that they don't trust.
