i heard that if you miss out the www. on a domain it increases website juice but i want to know how can i see how many websites are pointing at the www version of the site compared to the none www version of my site. (hope that makes sense)

301 Redirect one to the other, this will pass all link juice between both URL sets to one specific URL. Add the below code into your .htaccess file, make sure to edit the code accordingly for your domain name.

    non-www 301 redirected to www

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    Code (markup):
    www 301 redirected to non-www

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.yourdomain\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://yourdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    Code (markup):

Excuse me but what do you mean by missing out the www and adding to the websites juice? You mean, the incoming links having or not having the www in the anchor text coming in?

It won't matter where they're coming from. The point is to direct them where you want them to go.
