    Hi all, I have ever thought one idea:

    Does traffic help improve keywords ranking?

    ////

    And my idea is 'NO'.

    But I think it is very helpful for search engine catch in indexing.

    What are your ideas?

    I think it is good for indexing.

    For example, when I build a new website, and want it to be catched by search engines,

    one way is to build sitemap, and submit to search engines directly,
    the other way is just build some links, then the search engines may index it.

    That's a big no my friend.. Unless you use the traffic to get affiliates who will advertise your link on their site or traffic who will post content on your site. ;)

    The common sense answer would be no. The only way they could monitor traffic outside of search results would be the Google Toolbar. Also, the ease of abuse from using traffic as a factor would become popular very fast.

    Traffic CAN improve your rankings INDIRECTLY, because some of the visitors will like your site so much that they will link from their sites to your site. Thus, you will get new backlinks, and this will improve your rankings.

    everyone is saying no and they're generally right. but remember, google has access to how many unique searches and click throughs go thru the SERPs to all indexed sites, giving them a good gauge of popularity. it is not impossible that they may use this traffic popularity as a component in their algorithm....

    My opinion is yes. If even one of those visitors links to you naturally by visiting your website than chances are your rankings will improve. If your site is a useful and valuable resource than you should be able to generate some form of natural links, and natural SEO is the best SEO you can do :)

    I'm with guitarbinge. People seem to assume that Google uses none of the massive amounts of Analytics, Toolbar, and SERP tracking data to rank pages, and I think thats naive.

    A great way to rank would be monitoring if the user returns to the search page to try another site after their first selection, or worse has to run the query again.

    I've had a few sites get crazy traffic from StumbleUpon, and start ranking pretty quickly despite having few non-SU links. Maybe its that Google weights SU links (I think they do), maybe its some kind of traffic analysis via the toolbar, maybe a combination of both.

    But I wouldn't discount analytics data factoring into rankings. My prediction is that this will be the next big topic in SEO.

    Traffic comes after the SERP . Means SE ranking generates traffic but yes traffic is very useful for site indexing.
