I have just read Nintendo's mod rewrite sticky...................and had to go and lie down for half an hour (I'm only a dog with not much upstairs) The the site is http://thinkdrinks.com/ I want to have urls like this: http://thinkdrinks.com/"catagory".html http://thinkdrinks.com/catagory/"drinkname".html Code (markup): Is this a big job and will it cost me much? Thanks MKInfo
Without any modification in your site script (just modifying .htaccess file) you can just make something like this: For categories: http://thinkdrinks.com/1.html -> http://thinkdrinks.com/category.php?pagenum=0&catid=1 and for drinks: http://thinkdrinks.com/drink/83.html -> http://thinkdrinks.com/drink.php?drinkid=83 But obviously those numbers seem bad. To get rid of those numbers some slight modifications must be done at your script.
Sorry to confuse you. The "" are for mysite.com/"catagory name" (ie cocktials)/"drinks name"(ie 57 Chevy).html Looks like I'm in for a long night modifying the script as Skeleton says.Should be interesting as I don't know PHP
SEO wise, numbers don't hurt at all, while having the page title in the URL can make it even better, SEO wise.
Ok.I give up.My head is killing me and I didn't get anywhere. Looks like I'm gonna have to use the 1.html,2.html way (looks up at Nintendo with pleading eyes and wagging tail while offering a paw) Unless someone can do the coding for me on the cheap.
If you're still looking for help with the rewrite give me a pm, or get me on msn I'll do it free with keywords in url (looks v easy).
