As I am new to SEO I want to research more about targeting on the local serp which means targeting in my city. For traditional SEO for world wide web I am aware of the article strategy, link building etc. etc. but what about local serp rankings? Does it work on the same way? For example: I am from Germany and I am targeting on local searches for the city of Frankfurt for long tail kw for let's say "car wash in frankfurt". Does it make sense when doing directory submissions and link building services (service will be purchased here in buy/sell/trade) for this page? I mean, my site is basically German and I assume the directory submission and link building services that are offered here in the forums are directory submissions goes to all sites around the world. I have hundreds of more questions, but I like to research it by myself so I won't bother you all with tons of questions, but I could'nt find the answer of the question above. thanks a lot!
SEO is the same just some things change LOcation of hosting Geting backlinks from local sites Maybe domain extension (but doesn't count as much)
Submit your website in local directories and search engines. And try to get quality backlinks from local theme based websites.
just optimize for car wash and have Frankfurt as a keyword in your content. Even if you don't qualify well for car wash in general you should do well for car wash in Frankfurt
thanks all for the advice, I appreciate it a lot. So basically the I should submit the site to local directories, so the thing I've mentioned about the "directory submission services" (for example see this package offered in the buy/sell/trade) that are offered in the buy/sell/trade section does not make any sense? And what about the "link building services" that are offered in that same section, will they also not make any sense for local serp?
Funny, not a single person mentioned the Geo-Targeting tool located in Google Webmasters Central; this allows you to tell Google which local\geographical search results you want to appear in... Steps to set this up... 1. Login\Sign-Up Google Webmasters Central (www.google.com/webmasters) 2. Click your site in the dashboard (must be verified) 3. Click "Tools" on the left hand menu bar. 4. Click "Set geographic target" 5. Follow the instructions from there.... Hosting in the region is suggested, also backlinks from that geographical location.
Thanks a lot, ssandecki! This seems like valuable information to me. You've suggested me backlinks from the "geographical location". In my case the city I'm targeting is Frankfurt and the country is Germany. Should I collect backlinks from the city which is Frankfurt or backlinks from the country (Germany)? And do you have an opinion about my latest post about the directory submissions services that are being sold here in DP. Would those packages make sense for my purpose? Thanks again and I appreciate your feedback a lot (like others).
Well, aim for actually in Germany; your pool will be much better for getting relevant backlinks. Don't waste your time and money on directories, worry about making unique quality content people will WANT to link to.
google.com/local/add/ Don't forget Google Local, I am not sure how it works internationally, but I have had success with it in the uS.
ssandecki beat me to the punch (I was busy with other things, trying to get caught up after dealing with a family crisis sucks), and yes, he is right. (off-topic -->) Oh, and well what do you know, three Chicago area posters in a row. I'll be in Chi-town on Saturday ironically...
