Godaddy Backordering Service is awful/is this domain worth?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by spiritfly, Apr 23, 2008.

I have backordered a doman with the godaddy backorder service, but I was highly sceptical that it will do any good, as I have read many reviews by unsatisfied users of this service.

So today was the last day of the pendingDelete status, but godaddy informed me that they were not able to catch the domain.

I checked its whois, and it says that snapnames captured it, so I went there and it appears that it is on auction with min. bid 99$ .

    The domain name is: teasexy.com

I didn't have any particular plans for it, but I liked it because of my girls name is in it :)

so Is this domain worth that much? I mean can I sell it for 100 or maybe more :) if I decide so in future?

As far as the two keywords in the domain, "tea" and "sexy", it doesn't really make any sense. But like you said, it has your girlfriend's name it in, so only you can put a price on how much that domain is worth to you.

I don't think it's worth that but a domain is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and it could be worth it in your case.

it will be worth allot more if in near future some Tea becomes pornstar, Tea is sounding like simple pornstar name so it is possible.

backorder also depends on who backordered and pay more first because the domain registrar have to pay on their own as well.

but then it is hard to tell on domain auctions if it'll worth it considering, the domain of your choice doesnt seem to be commercially useful, however if there are likeminds like you who ahve certain admiration of the words, then you will get $$

I don't think this is worth 99 bucks.

But be advised that snapnams actually tries to snap any .com name that gets deleted and puts it in auction. I doubt that anyone has ordered this name. They will delete it after 5 days if nobody bids on it, that's when your godaddy order will probably be sucessful.

I got two domains this way. They were deleted and I didn't backorder it, since I knew that it is going to go to snapnames anyway. It really came to snapnames, price was $39 there (I guess because it was more characters and 3 words together). I just waited for the last 5 minutes at snapnams, bid $39 an got the domain. I could have waited for it to get deleted, but for $39 I did not want to wait for it and risk someone else will grab it.

I used it many times. I almost never got the domain. And once I got a great domain and then about an hour later it was gone from my account. I called customer service and they told me someone else placed a backorder before me and they had the domain. They said it was a bug in the software and it should not have let me place the backorder. I was still pissed they took it from my account. I was already building a website for it. I never used their backorder again after that.

Yes they have 7 days to pay for it, so they hold it and then drop it. I got FantasyMob.com that way. I had to wait for it to drop again and I got it.

Well 7 days didn't pass, and the whois was changed. It is no longer on snapnames, guess I was out of luck..

Anyway I still think GoDaddy's backordering service is...&*%*@$!## (I don't know how to express myself without using bad word(s)) I mean why do they even offer it to people? If snapnames gets all the expiring domains, whats the point? 18 bucks are not much, but if chances in getting your domain are 0.0001% why even bother?

A domain names value is determined in a variety of ways.
The end user who has a use for the domain will most likely pay the most to obtain it.
I have been buying and selling domains for years through Go daddy, Moniker, and Snap Names.
I have used the backorder a few times with no success. For the most part I have only seen a handful of people who used this service and were satisfied with it. Your better off saving your money and trying to obtain the domain when it comes up for auction. It may cost a little more but there will be no disputes. The domain will be yours!
    Just my opinion.

Hey I got the domain today!! I can't believe it! It changed its registrar three times before it got to me, lol!

Thanks for the advices guys, I really think the above comments were useful to me, first of all I would have changed the backorder to another domain if you didn't tell me that it is possible to get it even after companies like snapnames got it.

And second I will be sure to look out for a pornstar with the name Tea in future :D

    Rep++ added!

Maybe moderators can delete this thread, I kind of changed my opinion for the godaddy's backordering service now :)
