Hi, I am currently trying to decide if it would be better to get 1xPR7 link or 3xPR6 links? 1) Which would be better for PR 2) Which one would be better for Search engine ranking?
Given that that PR is assumed to work on a factor about about 5 or 6, then 1 PR7 link would be worth 5 or 6 PR6 links. However, there are MANY other factors to consider: - How close to your niche they are. - What kind of link (image/text). - What the anchor text is - How many other links are on the page. - Etc...
I agree with mickmel. It depends on what is the origin site. Is it related site or not. Or you only linked through image.
Exactly. Had you not said this, I would have myself. ESPECIALLY the emphasis on the number of other links on the page (both internal and external) that are not nofollowed.
Assuming the sites are exactly the same in terms of content, relevancy, etc. the PR7 would be a more valuable link. For more information about pagerank equivalences look at a pagerank table: http://www.kenkai.com/google-pagerank-table.htm Keep in mind that Google only updates Pagerank approximately every 3 to 4 months, so the PR7 may actually be a PR6 and the PR6, subsequently equal to a PR7, and Google maybe just hasn't caught up yet . Another consideration to keep in mind is the Google pagerank calculation is logarythmic. Therefore, as you get into the higher pageranks web pages the # of links required to reach the next pagerank grows exponentially more so than that of the lower PR web pages. Thus explains why its relatively easy to move from a PR0 to a PR1, but very difficult to move from a PR7 to PR8.
You can also evaluate it with score system. One PR7 link worths 47,856 points; while 3 PR6 links worth 38262 only. http://www.blogformoney.org/2008/03/google-pagerank-formula-in-points.html
Basically, the answer as below: 1. 1 backlink on PR7 is better then 3 backlink in PR6. 2. PR and SERP is different, all about the keywords. 3XPR6 might have more keyword compare to 1XPR7 generally, but you have to check by yourselfby focusing on the keyword and density of keyword
That seven though would be worthless if there were a lot of links pointing away from the page (including to other pages on the site), however. Which is why it was recommended to check the links on the page before deciding which to pursue.
if it is a new site its better to point more number of low PR links than one high PR link. but if it is a established site with loads of backlinks then pointing PR7 link might be better than 3*PR3 when buying links check what links points to the page which you buy links (the page can be PR6.1 or PR6.9 , you got what i mean right) check whether the page you buy links get .edu, .gov links there are loads of other things as well than just PR, most are discussed in the thread
And what do buying links or .edu and .gov TLDs have to do with this thread? (The former can get you penalized, the latter have no impact or special bonus.)
Each and every single link counted as back links for website those are without nofollow. And buying links is not a good way to get success in SEO...
Well, just to clarify, you CAN legitimately buy links (even SitePoint and FoxNews.com do it) as long as they're nofollowed. Granted, they won't mean much to the search engines, but they can still deliver targeted traffic to your site, and that is something an SEO or SEM consultant cannot overlook.
Yes and if the PR7 contains lots of external links then you will get only some PR juice. So also count how many external links are added on the page.
