My company is thinking to launch a new bluetooth accessories for nokia phone. Any idea where should I start to promo this. Should I start with writing lot of article and submit everywhere ? Or should I start with Some end-user ? Marketing ? Blogging? Some Phone Forums ? Another way is email some retail store directly. ( But I believe my email will become spam in no time ) I think the first thing i need to do is make a web site for this product Because we are manufacturer , we need some reseller to purchase from us. We can't sell to the end - user directly. We have some product sell to ( Be$^ Buy ) through some reseller. We can't do anything without that reseller. We trying to get to know more retail store. Thx for any advice
Obviously making a website for it is a must. Even if you don't sell the product on the site, you must have a "brochure" for it. I'm a bit confused about your reseller statements. It sounds like you already have a reseller who apparently only works with one major chain. Is this some kind of exclusive contract?? Why not track down another reseller or two? If you're locked in an exclusive contract with that reseller, and they're not pushing enough of your product, look for a way to get out of the contract. Sales people that don't sell are useless. Without knowing your budget, its very tough to give recommendations, but given that you're asking for advice here, you're either either very new to your job (no offense) or from a smaller company that doesn't have a marketing department and I'd guess that your budget isn't all that big. Using that assumption, here is my advice. If you can, I'd look for cell phone forums (and Nokia phone forums especially) and send the owners a free "widget" in exchange for an honest review on their site. Some paid banner ads on those forums might be fairly effective too. If your contract is not exclusive, start contacting online retailers like Amazon or any retailer with a warehouse that can buy 1000 (or what ever your lot size is) of your widgets at a time. Don't bother with email. You'll get such a poor response that it won't be worth your time. You want to focus on building a good relationship with the retailer/reseller, so you need to either use snail mail or phone calls or both. Using both a direct mail campaign and a phone campaign will produce the best results, especially if you call the prospective client within about 7 days after you mail them your brochure. An important thing to remember is that you're not just selling your doo-dad, you're also selling your company. You'll not only have to convince these guys that your product is good and that it will sell, you also need to show them that you can handle success. That is, if your product is so good that they start flying off the shelves, the reseller needs to know that your manufacturing base can meet the demand because if your product becomes back ordered and no one knows when a new batch will arrive, you might as well be kicking yourself in the
I think this is a much larger project than you anticipate. Like Tim Myth said, you definitely need to create a website for the new product. Not only a website, but you should create and entire brand image(logo, brochure(s), packaging, ads for web and possibly print, etc...) . Not only for this new product but for your existing company. Like Tim says, the end user needs to be able to trust your product and company. The exact marketing and advertising of your product really depends on who the user will be. Will this be best used by a certain industry? Executives? teenagers? moms? pets? After you know who you would like to market to, then you can look at how to best reach that market and sell to them. Like Tim recommends, when looking for re-sellers stay away from e-mail and send them an actual brochure/ product description in the mail. If possible, meet with them in person. You could also look into online re-sellers and get your product carried on their website but since this is a totally new product for your company a well made website will be essential.
thx for the advice.... I am new to my job and in a small company as well ( less than 10) . But we have factory located in other place . I don't want to loss a job. I want to help my company. We are not under contract. we can sell what ever we want. Except the staff we help others to build. We have our own brand , but it is very small and not popular. Our Contractor ( phi!ips ) put their own brand and sell it.Sorry I shouldn't said that is a reseller. They are big brand, they are easily sell to retail store. What we do is we just help them to build the product and they put their own brand. We have skills to build different phone accessories or similar product , in different brand of phone. Like nokia, samsung or sony. My company give me a budget of $2.5k and see what I can get for them. I believe my company is in danger stage right now,if we can't receive more order we will close our business.
Take $500-$1000 of your budget and get a decent site built. It doesn't have to be flashy, super interactive, web 2.0, all up in your face. It just has to be professional. Make sure your designer can use something like babelfish. It'll be fine for just starting out, but later you'll want to have some professional translations done. Second, join up with some sites like http://www.alibaba.com. I've never used them, but it was the only site I could think that linked suppliers with resellers. http://howtosellyourproducttowalmart.com/ looked interesting too. Third, how critical is the company's financial outlook? If the fish is already swimming sideways, you need to get some orders quick...start cold calling companies. If the next year or two are financially sound (barring extraordinary expenses), get some brochures made up, mail 'em out, and start calling people. Eruct had some really good advice with meeting them face to face, but I doubt that's in your budget. Forth, if your doodads are somewhat small and cheap, mail a few out to popular cell phone blog/forum/site owners. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising available. Best of luck, and if your company starts putting out an iPhone-killer, remember me!
