Can anyone tell me how directory rate come to their conclusions on what DR they give to individual directories? I was hoping someone could perhaps shed some light on this before I have a go at analysing a few of the sites side by side to do what I'll nickname the 'Sherlock Holmes' test. That is to eliminate all possibilities, leaving the probability, however unlikely to be the answer.
It certainly doesn't seem to add up for some reason, I think I'd have fun doing a look into it but would obviously like to have some input first Mike. Can't say I'm not fair then.
I don't believe reviewing someones rating system on educated guesswork would turn out well. Unless you can get the formula somehow, but I doubt they would be forthcoming with it.
Just guesses: 1. Number of people viewing the directory 2. They have a directory submission service and give rating to directory depending on following factors: a. Promptness of mail b. Promptness of review c. PR for internal pages d. Are internal pages indexed well in Google and other SEs. e. Do these directories reject incorrect submissions. f. How fast/slow the directory pages load Again.. just guesses I rate directories in my personal list based on this .. Though I don't spend a lot of time in this rating
I was taught as a kid that when you wanted to know some thing that you asked the horses head not it's ass. The owner is a DP user just send a PM and get the correct answers from the correct person.
That might be an idea mhamdi, at least it would be qualified and open to people, made up of facts not fiction. Based on the answers here so far I'm side-lining the reviews I have so far and going to do a crenellation analysis on their list, this will guarantee one thing. Prove what they don't use as factors. @Downunder; Not the best of sayings there? I wouldn't call DP members horses asses! Don't you think I've tried asking the horse? @jitendraag; Just guesses: Good points, although I ruled most of them out at a cursory glance.
I never said it was PR alone, I said there was a correlation. As soon as Aviva turned PR0 on the toolbar it dropped heavily in the DR ranking system, which prooves my point.
Don't worry about it Mike, I'm on the case. I've selected 5 random sites including the top one and matching up as many factors as I can including PR. From what I see so far its a joke but hey, you never know, I may well be proved wrong, early days yet.
We'll see on that wont we. Are you the one who anonymously gave me a red for simply daring to ask the question of how directory rate works? Jeeze, so many faceless people on here these days. BTW; I asked the question 'How does Directory Rate work?; not whether they have integrity or not, try and refrain from trolling will you.
I have never given anyone a red rep anonymously or otherwise. If I have something to say I will say it in in a PM or in the forum. I know red-repping is one of you preferred methods of communication Jamie, but some people do actually have a spine.
He probably queries the backlink totals from Yahoo API and assigns an arbitrary value to directories. In other words, the values are completely meaningless because "DirectoryRate" is not an industry standard.
I've got so far and found that the one thing that stands out like a sore thumb at the moment is PR and more PR. I haven't got around to doing the backlinks checking yet and was in fact going to ask if anyone knew of a reliable one for me to check both google and yahoo? @nebuchadrezzar; Quit trolling, I always sign but rarely give anything other than green as it cost me a red to give one and I'm too mean to do that.
Hello... lol would you ask Google for thier secret algo? Do you think they would give it to you Better get "watson" and do your investigation thx malcolm
