Privacy policy on a blog?

Discussion in 'Guidelines / Compliance' started by rchase14, Apr 17, 2008.

I just read an article about Google's revised privacy policy and just wondering if we should have one on our blog/website?

    Am I interpreting this wrong:

"You must have and abide by an appropriate privacy policy that clearly discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your users’ browser, or using web beacons to collect information, in the course of ads being served on your website. Your privacy policy should also include information about user options for cookie management."

I guess this makes sense if you own your domain.....but since my site is hosted with Blogger/Google....do I still have to comply?

I guess it would not hurt right?

Maybe to put a link to a privacy policy page in your blogroll and host it elsewhere. Maybe a free website without ads.

just put a new post with the privacy policy and put a link on the sidebar of ur blog, nt sure whether its necessary for adsense, dnt think so but its necessary for payperpost and other sponsored review sites..

visit www.disclosurepolicy.org to get a custom privacy policy made.

Privacy policy would not hurt. But what information are you collecting from users to display a privacy policy? Or is that solely for the Google Ads?
