Best Place to Buy Domain?

Discussion in 'Domains' started by Burta, Mar 23, 2006.

I was just wondering where is the best place to buy domain names and expand your domain name portfolio. At the moment I'm at a place called Total Online Solutions - but I only went their originally through recommendation from a friend - and well these days I'm looking at Yahoo and with them selling their domain names so cheap is their any reason not to go buy domains with them? So I was just wondering what should I be looking for when it comes t obuying domain names and who do you go with?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

If you want cheap, yahoo is the cheapest at 2.99 for a .com, if you want better quality namecheap, 1and1, dotster, godaddy, and registryfly are some to choose from.

Why are they quality? What makes one quality and the other cheap... you just get a domain name in the end dont you?

    I like enom and namecheap.
I think namecheap has better control panel interface.
With enom you also get access to domain auctions (to expiring/deleted domains).

If you plan to develop a site on it.. you can go for yahoo as they are very cheap..but if may plan to sell the domain..then go with others as yahoo doesn't allow free push or similar. I use godaddy for my hundreds of domains which I don't have sites on.

I got my domain registered at Yahoo, then after 60 days, I transferred it to NameCheap. NameCheap even transfered my remaining time. So not I have three years before I have to make a payment to namecheap.

Everyone really seems to like this namechape group - I might just have to check them out. Can I ask is it much hassle to transfer Domain names to different services - because at the moment I have like 6 domains that I would like to keep organise if at all possible.

Namecheap is good. They also offer specials where you get free 1 year whois guard with a domain purchase...so that is an added extra bonus when that special is going.

Enom.com of course is a very good place to reg domains. Their interface is very easy and they ahve great features which are easy to make changes too.

Domainsite.com is also a great place to reg domains. They are a little cheaper than namecheap per domain name you reg, and their interface is very easy to navigate as well.

ALL OF THE ABOVE ALLOW FREE PUSH TO OTHER ACCOUNT WITH THEIR COMPANY.

You can't lose with any of the above. GoDaddy is ok...but I am trying to slowly move the list of domains I have with them to one of the others above. I normally choose the one above that offers me something "free" or a discount at the time I am renewing my domain. Sometimes you can find like 10% off or a free who is guard subscription when you transfer or buy something. I used godaddy for a while because they would offer a 25% discount on any services you purchased after you regged a domain. It would last for 30 minutes after your original purchase, so I would buy a domain name, then in the next 30 minutes transfer over like 10 - 30 names, saving 25% on the final bill for the transfer, which was a significant amount.
