IMHO, I'd rather put articles in my own site/blog than submit mine to article sites - you drive traffic to them, THEN to your site in partial amount.

I like submitting to leading web dirs - DMOZ, Yahoo - and blog dirs - blogcatalog, 9rules... I like to drive traffic directly to my site :) - Good for your site strength and popularity.

    Cheers!

Submission in 100 - 200 directories doesn't matter. The thing which matters is, in how many directories your article is being approved. Try to submit in those directories which approve your articles (Either 10 or 100). Just fake submissions (without approvals) in number of directories is of no use. Try to get best use of your efforts.

More Approvals, more beneficial for you .......

All answered very well. Now let me tell you 1st submit it to top websites n than to other websites.

What you can do is just submit 2-3 paragraphs of your article, i think minimum 250 words are required in article body in majority site. Just submit that much n give link of your particular article by writing "Click here for more" or "View Full Article" or something like this.

This will help you in both way, you will get back links as well as visitors on your site.

Please Note: That website should allow this kind of stuff. So before doing this stuff please dont forget to read the guidelines of article submission websites

i would surely say that if you are going to submit to many directories the same content then its of no use because google thinks that you are spamming. I would suggest you to rewrite the articles and hence how many rewrites are there you can submit to that many directories. Its ok if you use one article to 2 directories. But for the top directories make sure all are unique. Rewriters are waiting for this opportunity and they charge around $1 for rewriting a 500words article. I think its cheap..........So give a shot.

I won't suggest you to submit your own fresh unique and rich content spread over the article dirs.
Publish on your own website, Google likes unique content and you will get higher traffic through articles published on your website.

    Best answer yet, Rep+

Content is worth "far" more on your own site, why would you want to give your content to another site who only sends you 1 visit for every 100 they get to your article?

    My Dear Friend

Let me explain you then whole concept. First thing is that you will never be penalize by submitting articles to 100s of article site. just concentrate on what i am saying right ?

Secondly submitting to 100s article will not give you any good output. Instead you merely post in your own website some unique article and then some unique articles in ezine and then see the result.

    This is my personal experience

Why not post an article on your own site? I thought that by posting it on your site first, establishes you as the owner. People picking up your article and posting it on their site would be the ones getting penalized for duplicate content, if there is such a thing:)

I've heard of plenty of people complaining that they found their articles on different web sites. The owner changed the links to suit them and dropped the Bio portion. I don't know how Google determines the original owner but one way of doing it is by the datestamp on the page. If it appeared on my site 19 Feb 08 and on your site in March, you obviously aren't the original owner.

It doesn't work anything remotely like that, the version with the most authority will rank first. If i take an article that's been indexed on your site for 10 years i can outrank you simply by having a stronger domain and/or pointing stronger links at my version.
