One of my friends e-commerce website is an site is having problems with Google indexing his site. Could it be that Ajax is not SEO friendly? He is using Ajax on his page to reload his albums.
Here is the link to his store. www.cashflow420.com/store.php

First, you should kill a lot of keywords in your meta keywords tag:

<meta name="keywords" content="Rap Music, Rap, Music, Store, Cashflow420, Cashflow, Cashflow420_com, Cashflow420.com, Online, Store, Rare, OOP, San Francisco, Frisco, Bay, Area, Rap, CD's, CDs, CD, C-Deez, Albums, Cassettes, Vinyl, Mac Dre, Reek Daddy, Smoov-E, Andre, Nickatina, Skip Dog, E.Z.S.D., EZSD, Fairfield, Stockton, California, eBay, Amazon, cduniverse, Rapbay, Thizz, Entertainment, Mobb, Music, Sacramento, Stockton, G-Funk, Mob, Hyphy, Oakland, Vallejo, Fairfield, East Palo Alto, EPA, San Jose, West Coast, Gangsta, Hip Hop, Nor Cal, Northern, Garrett, Blanton, Garrett Blanton,">

That is WAYYYY too many words.
Cashflow420, Cashflow, Cashflow420_com, Cashflow420.com - these are all unnecessary because it's your URL and you'll rank #1 for that term anyway.
CDs, CD's, CD are the same according to google, get rid of two of these.
eBay, Amazon, cduniverse seem irrelevant to your site. get rid of them.

google will penalize your site for trying to 'spam' keywords.

and google is indexing your site (about the 4th result down):
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...al&hs=WGI&q=cashflow420+store.php&btnG=Search

It just has terrible rankings because you have 7 backlinks to the site (which is nothing).

Have you implemented any SEO (on or off-site)? Read up on it, learn it and implement it. It involves a lot of time and work. You won't be #1 on google with little or no effort.

Thanks for all the info, I will have my friend clean up all his keywords and irrelevant keywords.

I'm curious which tool you used to find the 7 backlinks? From what he's told me he's been posting in forums all over the place trying to build his backlinks. Argh!

Seems like lots of html for a few pieces of text. Just CD names... The "source" has got so much in it that I think the keyphrases (CD names) will get watered down in a real hurry... I'm an older "conservative" type a guy... I do not know who "Skip Dog" is, but I could assume he is a popular rap artist? I'd assume you'd need to have a well optimized site about "Skip Dog" just to compete...

No pun intended, but what your doing is dog eat dog!...

Well that the Ultimate question :) anyway I have put a list of Link and Traffic Building processes, you may like to check it.

And ya, there is absolutely NO content on the site, so why should it rank ? I have yet to see stores ranking good in Google as they contain very little content. You yourself have to ask it, why should Google rank your page over others ?

I would start by building any backlinks. Submitting to directories is one of the easiest ways. But also try to find directories that are focused on your industry. Here's a guide about directories, it's a little lengthy, but it'll help if you're willing to read a learn: http://www.searchengineguide.com/senews/000982.html

Blogging, or sending out RSS Feeds helps build awareness of your site, and will naturally build backlinks. Articles and Press Releases are also good ways to build backlinks.

You'll find a lot of services that accept payment for linking to your site, but I would try to avoid these if I were you. Google is aware of many of these services / techniques, and they will penalize your site for doing this.

Let us know if you have any more questions about this.

Building a Site Map will help (both an HTML and XML one). Do you use Google Webmaster Tools? Submitting your XML sitemap there will help too.

As it turns out the owner has been submitting his url to many directories but it seems like non of his submissions are helping. I will pass him the links you gave me so he can start to build his backlinks.
Once he has adequate backlinks Google will then index his site? Is that correct?

Yes - sort of. The more backlinks you have, the more frequently your site will be crawled.

When google crawls sites, it doesn't crawl the ENTIRE site, it will leave your site shortly, but the more backlinks you have, the more likely it will crawl a site that is linked to yours, and it will come back that much quicker.

    Does that make sense?

So Google is only indexing part of the site because there is not enough backlinks. Simple enough.. I will start to build those today!
