I have a colleague who has over 16 different extensions of a same domain name and he ran for a while his sites with the same content but language according to each extension: localized German for the DE and AT, localized English for the US and CO.UK and so on, including jargon substitution for generics like BIZ, INFO, etc.

He was never penalized by Search Engines and all of the domains were listed at a time in Google, Yahoo and MSN among other search engines.

A few years later he only focused on developing the English, German and Spanish sites redirecting other extensions to the most appropriate based on his criteria: only three fully working sites but same content with different language and no problem with search engines.

He is actually pointing all of his extensions to a single chosen (English) domain but basically because of a personal decision so I'm not sure if his experience is one of a kind or having equal content in different languages works the same to anyone.

After these two cents I would suggest wait for other input before deciding.

If the language different on each site, I don't think its considered as duplicate content.

My friend got also two blog site, one is written in Spanish, and one is English but they have the same content. I guess Search engines are very particular on languages. So far, his blogs has not been penalized by any search engines.

2 sites in different languages are not considered as duplicates. Don't worry about it.

I agree and disagree. I agree that yes the language itself prevents it from being consider duplicate content, I disagree that it's considered different content. What I believe would and does happen is this will effect your localized and regional results greatly.

Just curious why you think that? If you put on different pages:

    Hello how are you

    and

    Здравствуйте, как вы

Even though it says the same thing, it's completely different. Google gives completely different results, and one page won't show up for the other term and vice versa.

I think google considers different language as different content.

But i don't think so you need to use duplicate content, people using duplicate content are really not good seo(I m not telling you my friend),

still if you are not aware from German, than you can make content for your website in English and than Translate it to German, using Google translation tool or so many free language translation tool over the web.

Hope this will be good for you...
