What do the factories in your town/area make?

a lot and lot of pollution..

 

where I live at, the largest production companies are Weyerhauser/Domtar (paper mill) and Alcoa (makes aluminum products primarily).

 

Actually they make batteries which is just couple of blocks from here.

 

I live near an aluminum die casting factory, its mine.

 

Being from Chicago IL, USA, a once proud manufacturing hub, and the son of a former steel plant worker, I'm sad to say we make NOTHING! We've out-sourced every major manufacturing industry and instead depend on a service-based economy that only feeds the mega-corporations of this world.

 

There's a factory that makes plants out of steel??? WOW!!! Those plants must be real hardy ones!!!

pollution babeh! In japan all industr is kept around the coast line, it dates back the edo period, when the thread of tsunami kept the people living in the hills.

As a surfer it is soooo depressing to see, the coast line is packed with all this industry spilling pollution into the skies and water!

most of the factories here in our town make apparels..and they sell it cheap..you guys should go here in the philippines..

 

Per capita, Gary is one of the most dangerous cities in this country. It has the distinction of being one of the former "Murder Capitol of the Country" award(?) winners.

Yeah, it is sad. I once saw a documentary on Gary and how it was once a model of urban progress.

 

It had the distinction. I think it goes to Jersey City or somewhere in Detroit now.

 

Here in the UK we have loads of Chav factories or state schools as they are known.

 

What's a chav? I've heard that term used before by my British friend, but I don't think we have anything here like that in the US. We do have state schools.

 

Well, I live in a borough, and in the town there are not anything but stores, but outside the town there are:
Large parts for military and navy such as nuclear missiles and submarine parts.
Cement companies
Plastic manufacturers

 

A chav is a young person, usually a teenager, some are older, often without a high level of education, who follows a particular fashion; Chavs usually wear designer labels including the chav favourite 'Burberry', and if they’re girls, very short skirts, large hoop earrings and stilettos.

Chavs see branded baseball caps as a status symbol and wear them at every opportunity. Normally found hanging around shopping centres.

A chav is UK version of USA white trash dependent on state benefits, useless, drunk and unemployable while the hard working Polish do all the work and they compalin that the Poles are taking all the jobs.
