    Had quite an argument with my faculty with two vice deans saying they want to throw me out of the window. If you were me, what would you do? Interpret it as a physical threat or just a figure of speech?

    Yikes!! Why were they so upset with you? I don't know what I would do, its hard to say.. Because I wouldn't want to get kicked out of school, but on the other hand, they have no right to talk to you that way.... Do you personally feel threatened?

    Not easy to kick out a phd candidate :) . We have differences in opinions, I don't feel personally threatened I mean I have 30 years worth of martial arts training, just that I don't like their languages. Trying to give them a little problem with the Provost :)

    Well a figure of speech could still be a threat. You need to assess exactly how you felt at that time and if you truly felt in danger. Since we were not there it is hard to give you the correct advice, but it seems logical that they were just making a comment and probably did not mean it literally.

    thats the problem you need to decide on bcoz it will affect your life.

    I would continue somehow.

    Also it also it depends on how much time more you need to get your phd.

    Are those vice deans wrestlers?why will they want you to throw out of the window?If I were you then I would just ignore such threats.No intellectual can do such killing act,they don't have the guts :D

    Well they claimed they were heard wrongly, anyway it is tough to take a phd in such an environment, I am opting for a change of university. Problem is my supervisor, changing supervisors would be extremely difficult.
