For some inexplicable reason, I have been getting people sending emails asking me if they can purchase a text link on one of my sites, rather than me approaching them. What is really bizarre is that some are real estate related, while my site is not. Any idea where these people come from and why they do this? They always need to check with their "boss" before payment as well. My Page Rank doesn't seem to be suffering (yet), but I'm getting concerned about that aspect kicking in, as internet rumors have stated selling links is a bad idea. Anyone else enjoying(?) this unexpected windfall from time to time? It's starting to freak me out a little, but it's hard to turn away easy money.....
Check the IP in the email addresses... Methinks the region they have to check with their "boss" about it, even though they're approaching you is because they're Ex-soviet or Nigerian scammers. After all, why would they approach you if it hadn't already been OKd by the boss?
It doesn't sound like you've got any of that easy money yet and I would guess if you do much with them you'll be making them the easy money. I'd stay clear of that and ignore them till they go away. donrock
