I mean really. About all of us are tired of the bull from Google. If someone was to create a system as good as google and with less bullcrap involved how many would jump ship and use the other service? I know I would.
Take a chance and research what it takes to start one! There are HUNDREDS of companies trying to imitate AdSense. None of them have succeeded (at least for me).
Because majority of the competitors don't have the similar financial muscle as Google and those who do, have been pussyfooting (MSN and Yahoo)
Well, there are hundreds of companies out there competing with adsense. You just need to keep you eyes open.
Simple, because Google has its very good reputation, that can attract millions of advertisers to pay for Google's service. Hence, the advertiser pool is sooo huge, for which other companies cannot do so.
You don't need a search engine to bring in traffic if you have a system that is attractive to webmasters to have them use it as sitesearch etc. The web is totally different from when Google started and they have managed to adapt and innovate in the process. Most companies looking to be the new Adsense competitor are simply following in the footsteps of Google rather than trying to be innovative and offer attractive enough incentives to webmasters to help grow etc.
AdSense works so well because there is a large number of advertisers who use it. The advertisers are with Google because (as others said) it is an established and trusted name and are well known for protecting advertisers from spammers as much as possible (even though they are not open as to how they fight against click fraud, they really spend lots of resources on this problem.) A smaller company would have to find a large number of high quality publishers before it can attract advertisers; similarly, it would need lots of advertisers willing to pay a high amount per click in order to attract quality publishers away from established and profitable programs such as AdSense. Moreover, in order for a new company to truly target ads correctly, a large number of publishers are necessary. Today it seems that regardless of what you are selling, there is more than one sites out there that serve Google ads. Competition among sites and advertisers in an auction-based mechanism makes AdSense very profitable for Google, the advertisers and the publishers. It is a win-win situation for all involved. This makes it hard for new companies to enter the market and truly compete with Google. That doesn't mean that second or third tier advertising networks are not profitable (and there are many of these.) It just means that these smaller networks are not capable of growing to Google size and can mostly attract those who have been banned from AdSense. Hope this helps answer your question!
cant agree more. Look at everyone else in the market. 1) YPN- only in USA. Their beta ran for more than 1-2 years already. When your beta version runs for that long, you should know there is something wrong with the system. They never launched for international publishers 2) Adbrite: Don't know much about them but definately not competing with adsense by far. 3) bidvertisers: The same story as adbrite. Fortunately, it takes more than a piece of code and money to build a advertising system and perhaps these companies never understood it. What users really want: 1) Less restrictions on usage. 2) International coverage 3) Payment -Very important. Adsense has the best payment channels available and they cover the whole world. 4) Ad codes complexity- How easy to put a code. 5) Targetting- Look at YPN, you get britney spears ad for a forex blog. It says it all. 6) Availability- 100% uptime 7) Customer support If you can beat adsense on all these 7 points, go ahead make a network and you might succeed, till then use Adsense. Reps appreciated!
DP member scart3r made an alternative to adsense ages ago. Her site is trafficbunnies.com and I think you can access it from there. Col
I'll use whatever services makes me the most money without causing major problems for my users. So far that is adsense.
Adsense is backed by Google's search technology... I would try other ad networks, but none gives me the relevancy that Adsense gives. So compete with Adsense, "someone" will first have to make a search engine like Google.
Millions of dollars need to be spent on advertisements on a project similar to Adsense. I doubt if any of you would move from Adsense even the other company would offer much more. Lets get an example of Widgetbucks , they were offering a $25 signup and many where skeptic and didn't join and their skepticism was right ! Thanks Olgi
The thing is that people do not NEED to move from one ad network to another - they can simply test out alternative ad networks and then if new networks are providing good returns (or stable income), they can then increase use of the other ad network etc.
Couldn’t agree more, there has to be level of trust that one should have about the advertisement network, which isn’t present in majority of the new advertisement network. I want to be sure that I will get paid for the traffic I am sending and that too honestly and frankly majority of the new ad networks fail completely on this aspect and even the few existing networks.
It's hard to start from 0 against such a big player look at MSN and yahoo efforts and they can't match ....
