Firefox will probably be ahead of the game as it has already got the majority using it now i guess.

In what way? You are the only one on this board that seems to need self validation. Yet you have no basis for anything you've said. I've invited you to prove me wrong and you haven't tried. I provide links while you only make empty statements and offer nothing.

But all that is OT. The topic here is that Microsoft has downgraded IE8 here and it's further proof that:

    1) Internet Explorer holds back the web
    2) Microsoft's claim of wanting to improve IEs web standards compliance is a bald-faced lie.
    3) If you want to be able to use modern techniques on the web, you won't be able to do it with any version of IE.

Web Designers still need to install IE 8 as it is still a major force in the browser world. Clients will want to see exactly the same thing in Firefox as well as in IE 8, really pity those designers. For normal folks like us we have a choice, Firefox, even Opera looks much neater and faster.

If you was so smart you would have took your skills to another level and realised he knew this.

IE is a joke, and as discussed a nightmare for web developers. We are in 2008 and they are halting the progression of the internet. It is not as simple as if you don't like IE then don't use it. Web developers must take IE into consideration as it is already plonked onto Microsoft machines, therefore the average joe bloggs web user won't even know that it's possible to surf the internet on something bar IE.

Yeah, I used to use IE all the time, and that was all I ever wanted to use, but Firefox is not only better but just feels more right to use.

I totally agree with the person who made this thread. IE 8 is a freaking joke. If you were all web developers.. believe me.. you would HATE internet explorer 10 times more. I mean.. i'm a web developer and i spend 60% of the time developing and designing.. and the other 40% of the time, i spend debugging for internet explorer.

Internet explorer/Microsoft needs to come out with a browser that actually works well like opera or firefox and supports a lot more.

    props to drhowarddrfine.

Yeah buddy, go somewhere else. No one is forcing you to stay here and the fact that you keep coming back must mean something. Yes I do know what channel9 is and I've been there a few times too. You're just another arrogant prick in this world that no one will miss.

Excuse me, but I use windows, and no I don't use it to play games, so just shut your mouth. If you're so "intelligent", then you wouldn't even bother argueing about these things to begin with, and so what if you're right about IE? Who the hell cares? Everyone has their own opinion and if you're too much to respect that, then you fail in life. The End.

Indeed, Mozilla is a better browser in every way...

IE 8, in my opinion, takes up too much memory to start with... and sometimes the tabbed switching menu gets stuck...

Open 20 tabs or use FireFTP and 5 tabs with the browser window open for 30 mins or so and watch the memory usage there. lol

I tend to dislike IE but i'm yet to give IE8 a try. For all those who complain about IE7 being so bad it actually isn't. I'm sure if you improve your coding you'll work out a way to code your sites to appear exactly the same in IE7, Opera (smaller font issue there) and FF. I sure did after thorough research. IE6 on the other hand is just a lost cause. :p
