Discussion in 'AdSense' started by godmode, Apr 9, 2008.

I saw this news in the morning on Channel news asia. They said yahoo will test run Google adsense ads on yahoo search, which will account for only 4% of total yahoo search traffic. This test is run to identify if google ads is a good option for yahoo to be used in long term.

lol. Funny, I can't believe this. Yahoo can't make money with YPN how will they make us money with their program lol

lol. Yeah. Yahoo is trying to make money off adsense so they can earn a bit more to show off to microsoft and hope that MS will give a better offer.

I think this is a strategic move directed straight at Microsoft.

One day google will swallow up both yahoo and msn combined, it will become a true giant, infact one day they may refer to the globe as the gloobe. :)

Planet google, we will become googlites.

Its a test. Basically they want to threaten MS to raise the bid or give up on their bid. Just a smart gameplay to make MS nervous.

Its a couple of things, but yes, mostly a thinly veiled attempt to make MS raise the bid to close the deal. It could also be seen as a last ditch effort for Yahoo to raise money to buy back enough shares to appease their stockholders. Either way its not going to work.

Its an empty threat, because Google and Yahoo cannot combine their ads or their search because of antitrust issues. Google would have an even more complete domination of internet advertising, and it would not be allowed. Microsoft's head council said as much this morning.

In my opinion, its a childish move by Yahoo to basically tarnish their own company before the inevitable buyout. They want to make things as difficult as possible for Microsoft to assimilate their company. And of course Google is always down for extra cash / pissing off Microsoft.

If Yahoo had any inkling that they might stay independent they wouldn't be undermining their advertising business in this way. Personally I think they made a terrible decision that will only degrade their value even further, which won't help them justify fighting the Microsoft bid.

Microsoft! is on the way, I give it 2 weeks.

PS: @sultanofseo: The bid is not off the table at all. However its worth a bit less because Microsoft stock is down. So I think it comes out to $42 billion instead of $44 billion. MS has put a deadline of April 26th for Yahoo to accept the bid, or they will continue with their plan to seat a new board and go directly to the stockholders with a lower offer.

George good analysis. I agree with your points. MS might also try for hostile takeover through board of directors

Unfortunately, since Yahoo has not been doing so well financially recently, MS can and most likely will do a hostile take over regardless of what Yahoo does.

LOL So let me get this straight. Yahoo will utilize Google adsense to boost a possible profit margin to make things look attractive to Microsoft. To force them to raise the bid. Its either a brillant idea or a laugh and a slap in the face to both Google and Microsot. Probably next month they will do Microsoft Ad center, than Commmission Junctiona and so on............
