Myths and Reality for Google searches and PR

Discussion in 'Google' started by Cagliostro, Apr 7, 2008.

I have created two websites in a specific niche (don't ask what niche, since it doesn't matter) and for the last 4 months i'm trying to see what is working and what not, in order to put some keywords in google 1st page and PR5.

One strategy i have followed is to check the top websites for that keyword and replicate what they have done.

To my surprise the Top 3 websites for the most searched words ... are a total crap / junk / empty websites.

They don't have on page optimization, they are very bad esthetically designed, old, a total crap.

So, what DO they have to be on the first 3 places in a VERY well paid niche ?

    (1) The are OLD domains. 1996, 1993, 1994.

    (2) The have a lot of backlinks, not great ones but a lot. 500, 600 even 1000 in some.

    (3) They seem to be part of some kind of webfarm, since they exhange links heavily between them.

    --

So what is important for a web site to have traffic from google ?

    (1) Content is King ? NOT so

    (2) A professional website, well designed ? NOT so

    (3) SEO ? Not much

    (4) Backlinks and Interlinking ? YES, very important

    (5) Add things each and every day ? NOT so

    --

OK, but those websites get the traffic but do they work well for adsense, you may ask.

I don't know because they don't have adsense but some other specific ads.

All in all, i would say that ANY website for ANY keyword can be in the top positions, if the owner is clever and wait for a while.

    Hey,

I'm trying to write here REAL STUFF, what is happening to me that maybe helps or even give an idea to others.

By "Really" and sarcastic quotes, you don't contribute much.

    --

So YES REALLY. I have found 3 websites in my niche (not mine) and they are empty. Still PR5, and N1 in google search for MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR keywords.

Do you think i have a reason to lie ?

I would better not post anything ....

    Ok, what i mean is:

They have no Titles, no friendly urls (actually the have crap urls), no H1/H2/H3 etc, no bold, no images alt text, nothing. Just some interlinking.

    And backlinks. Lotsa.

Actually (i think) that is very good for me. I'm young in adsense, BUT i'm doing the required SEO, i'm building original content, and i will try also to build backlinks (that seems the hardest to do).

I think that in a year or so, i will be close to them.

I'd bet your site is no better than theirs, probably made for adsense\revenue and nothing more, by what you've said you apparently need to get more knowledge on SEO\SEM before you make rant\mis-information threads that some unfortunate people will believe. From what you described they are doing (if you can even analyize a competitor correctly) it would be simple to by-pass them in search results within an easy 2-4 month period if not shorter.

Those sites you list seem to be doing everything wrong. I think as long as you follow the advice from people on this forum and from books/articles you read you will beat them for sure just give it time and good luck!

Forget for a moment whether or not "content is king" is true. Think about it differently — Why in the world would you even want to put on the internet a website that did not have good content?!! Why put well-SEO'd junk out there?

i personally think that with content and optimization for search engines you could take a site with little traffic to one with a lot of traffic....

You speak like you know me :)

MY website has nothing to do with my post. The juice of my post is that some total crap websites (i can pm you them) are N1 in google for a very well paying niche. And i'm searching ways to beat them. It seems you find that wrong, and you post negatively.

The analysis of my competitors is based in two seo books i have bought, i can't tell if it is good or bad. Seems good.

Who said i want to put seo junk out there !!! Did i wrote such a thing ? I wrote that the websites i'm trying to beat have almost no SEO and they are crap, so i'm shocked they list N1 in google searches.
