Who is denying ads because the description is "too short"? What criteria are you using? I just read a post of someone that had an ad denied, and for my surprise I just noticed one of my ads denied for the same reason. The description was "Over 5,000 buddy icons ready to download". Really, guys, do you want people to submit a description of 5 lines?? Lighten up
That was me, sorry to hit your ad. I'm probably off the mark when it comes to what is an acceptable length. What I'd like is a default built in based on Shawn's judgement of what is long enough. Shawn - how big is big enough before you are satisfied bro? The example you gave is definitely fine imo, I was reviewing in bulk and it was probably a few words longer than the oh so short descriptions I do tend to pip for being too short. This description is too short. I think the default setting should be set, at about this long. I haven't reviewed ads for a while so let me know what is long enough?
Anything that is a complete sentence typically I would say is long enough. It certainly don't need to be a book.
Why does it matter how long the description is? I dunno. I think it came from when I first reviewed ads and there was a lot of very short descriptions. The mantra was always - what would wash as a description on my site where I was serving ads. Anchor Text - Lots of cool keyword phrase. or Anchor Text - Get keyword phrase. Wasn't up to scratch imo. There was also a lot of: Anchor: Keyword Phrase - Description: Keyword phrase. The confusion over what was needed really came from people's thought that they only wanted to list the anchor text, they didn't realise there were a lot of sites that needed a description also as they displayed the anchor plus the description. While we shouldn't hint too much about how best to use the coop, a description like this is what I aim for with my ads: Keyword Phrase Anchor - My description of keyword phrase includes at least two to three mentions of my keyword phrase, because its such a great keyword phrase. Two usually in the description, but sometimes three. At any rate it is a sentence and while I aim for mentions of the keyword phrase it comes down to the fact that you are placing an ad on someone else's site. I am out of touch and out of date with how to review ads for the coop. So definitely my mistake in this case. It would be great to get a default character length to satisfy Shawn then reviewers can go from there, without regard to how long is long enough.
No being funny fryman but your ads are treated the same as anyone else . Ok mistakes can happen and do But to kick off is a bit close as me reading that first post its sound bloody rude ------------- I have had a little rule in my head that four words in the description is not enough , Kind of like ` line in the sand ` that they must cross , and have never had anyone kick off about it that I know . After all if they cannot be bothered then nor am I. If in dought then I just leave them for shaun or someone else Just refused 15 for dis to short
I didn't mean to be rude, I was just surprised since I honestly didn't think that the description was too short at all. I agree with you, Dominic, something like Anchor: Keyword Phrase - Description: Keyword phrase should get denied without a question. But descriptions must be used by only a tiny amount of coop users anyway, since most of them use the link option and not the banner. Sorry if I sounded rude, didn't mean it.
