Hi, Merry Christmas Everyone...,, I live in US, but since I'm a korean and korean is more familiar with me, I use search engine made by korean company.... It seems obvious that google is the best in US.... How about in other countries like countries in Europe and so on..... In Korea, the best search engine is Naver.com If you check it on alexa, They get lots of traffic.... So...My question is google dominate the world?? or just in english countries?? Thanks..
There are often other alternatives around, particularly in non-english speaking countries. In Australia at least, Google is king. In Holland I believe ilse.nl is quite popular, although I'm not sure how they compare with google.nl these days, as we get a lot more traffic from google.nl than ilse. In Italy, I understand virgilio.it is rather popular. In our stats, we get lots of visits from google.fr, google.de, google.it, google.es, google.nl, google.be and so on - many of them more than yahoo or msn, so I think overall google is king !!
I think you are confusing "the best" with "the most popular". In Portugal we have Google (google.pt), Sapo (wich uses Google data), IOL and Clix. Also, since our brazilian friends use our language we (at least in all the websites I run) get a lot of traffic from google.com.br too...
I'm seeing that a lot of the Japanese search engines are changing over to using Google feeds for their data.
On my side of the world google dominates. There are local SE but googles still holds about 80% of it.
Interesting.,,, Google dominate in many countries..... But in korea, Google is doing really bad,, about 10% maybe less then 10% using google... I think that's because korea is too small and many people use Portal rather than pure search engine,, And in Korea, Mouth to Mouth marketing is really important also because they are small,,,, Anyways,,Thanks everyone,,Happy New Year..
My understanding is that the internet developed much quicker in Korea and as a result it was much harder for Google to enter the market there when they did. Also, I think maybe Korean searchers prefer the glitz and busy-ness of a portal to the sparseness (boringness?) of Google. Just some theories
That's correct, although Google is the benchmark. It's a matter of opinion if it's the best, but it's obviously one of the best and also it's the most popular.
Google rules in the UK, I would say 70% of my sites traffic (http://drive-recovery.8bit.co.uk and http://server-data-recovery.8bit.co.uk) come from google, about 18% from Yahoo and about 4% from MSN.
Google is most popular in Australia by far, second is ninemsn (partnership between channel 9 tv and msn).
Agree with rjcable - I work on UK sites with between 50-90% of traffic from Google. One site has a lot of international appeal and there are plenty of Google referrals from Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Poland and Finland - I only wish I could present my work in those languages
Does google have same business strategy throughout the whole world?? Or They have different strategies depending on the location?? Google.co.kr(korea) look the same too me..
I think it's pretty much the same across the globe. Not all features are available in other languages though.
