So, I only recently figured out there is a huge difference between "page rank" and "search engine ranking". By the way, this is good reading about page rank: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_rank. did you know "page" refers to the guys last name and not webpage? anyway, how often does google update a site's page rank and a site's search engine ranking? sort of a continuous thing or every few months or what? I heard page rank was every few months, but how about search engine ranking? thanks
search results change all the time. Take a title of a thread - any thread - on dp and google it. It's indexed within 20 minutes or so. Which means every other result for that search has changed position.... ok, it's going to be a long tail and not one that's searched often, but in theory, that can happen on any search.
thats not really true. if your website is not crawled, it will not be indexed. from my experience, it can take a few days before your website is crawled.
That's completely irrelevant - YOUR site might not be crawled, but other sites are, so the search results change. Other sites get backlinks, improve their on page seo, and improve their postion - at your expense. Or vice versa - they lose backlinks and mess up their title tags in a re-design - you benefit in serps without doing anything.
Pagerank is actually updated constantly behind the scenes, what you see in the toolbar or via Pagerank check scripts is the "past" value of your visible Pagerank update. The visual Pagerank update can be anywhere from 3-5 months apart.
Very nice or better to say "welcome to SEO" Completely wrong! with some simple technics, which I am sure available in DP for free or with a little search on Google, your site or page as, magda mentioned, can be indexed as fast as 20 minutes. I have done it many times.
