$650 per year budget for web hosting - what to choose?

Not sure what to get. Initially will host small website, but may grow to host a few more. Could do it with small plan, but I have the budget.

So should it be VPS, dedicated - what would you do?

Well for $650 for a year, you could get a dedicated server... I personally could offer you a server with 1TB bandwidth for $600 a year, but I'm sure others could offer the same :)

    Good luck!

If its only a few small sites, you best with a reseller package, and if its growning then get a VPS - Dont waste to much money on the hosting at the start, make money first then go for the biggar stuff!

THere is always issues with both dedicated and shared, depends where you get them from and the gurnateed uptime etc.
Dedicated, you would to either choose managed or unmanaged, again work is involved, however shared littel work involved...because your starting up some only a few small sites...you would give yourself extra work with a dedicated (depends which you choose) however, the choice is yours! Shop around....but put your money to good use, starting a website can be hard at the beginning, however if you have alot of money to put towards it...you will be rewarded! :) Dont waste it on hosting costs!!
The advice i would give on my own experince!

    Cheers
    Kev :)

I agree, you should just start out with what you need at the moment and then expand as your site requires. I would suggest starting out on a shared plan.

Check out Nixism, they come highly recommended from me.

start out with http://www.knownhost.com 's normal plan and then move up to their vps.
They have pretty good, and fast customer support and they will help you with anything and you dont even kow how to manage your contorl panel, if you dont know, send them support, and within few minutes they will help you out step by step or do it for you.

if you need dedicated servers later on in future, feel free to contact me.

Though u have the budget, its not wise to spend it up yet. If its only a simple basic site, go with a reliable web host that does not oversell.

Do note where the visitors of your website are from. If for example, they are from Singapore, it will be wise to choose a web hosting company that has servers in Singapore rather than a US host. Though bandwidth is more expensive, there are lesser hops, so that means that your website will load much faster.

I would start out with shared hosting and then upgrade when the time comes. I am sure you will be fine with shared hosting if your websites are not too popular and are rather small.

You really should go Shared first. And once your website gets popular and extends the demands of what a shared hosting plan can offer you, then you should go for a VPS or a dedicated server. Good luck with your website!
