Oh, and btw, this kind of behavior used to be what liberals did. Blame everything on heartless conservatives. And deny that they had anything to do with problems, when they would be forced to acknowledge that problems exist.

"I'm too stubborn to admit I could be wrong, and too intentionally under-informed to see the big economic picture, so I'm going to accuse someone else of not having a point, to distract from the fact that I can't refute what has been posted in this thread. My tactics will consist of name calling and blaming the media."

I'll make a note to compile the information you are too lazy to read, or too dumb to understand tomorrow or on the weekend.

Mia I saw the economy hitting the skids back in 2002 - way before mainstream media caught on so your argument that I'm some kind of moron being taken for a ride by the mainstream media doesn't wash.

Your position almost says that a recession or depression is impossible for the US economy - in perpetuity.

    Fact. Recessions and depressions happen.

Even for your invincible US economy.

This has nothing to do with whether an administration is a Republican or Democrat. In case you haven't noticed both of these parties are socialist. Worse a socialist monarchy. If Hillary gets in again you'll be heading for 32 years of Clinton and Bush. (Bush VP for Reagan over 8 years)

Recessions and depressions are a chance for clever people to make money - buying up assets super cheap - that's why the super rich love a decent depression - in the long term they can extend their hegemony.

Never listen to those dolts on CNBC, they are nothing more than talking heads, some prettier other than others. They are almost always wrong when they try to guess how shit is going to play out. They are also frequently calling for bottoms in the market. Idiots. They are lucky they are not allowed to invest, for they would most definitely lose a lot of money.

I hear way too many people take advice from these idiots, especially Cramer. Stock tips are the crux of most new investors problems. Here's a tip: stay out of dark allies.

It depends on the time frame, the Fed are trying to prop up the market at all expenses, so in the short run I would foresee wild swings but in the medium term it is down all the way when the recession sets in. I don't think that there will be a soft landing, they are inflating the bubble as much as they can, there will be a hard landing with a longer than expected recession.

I expect the quarter that we are now in to be already in contraction, when the next quarter contracts, that will be officially a recession.

I see where Mia is coming from. The average worker is to busy to work. The country is going into bankrupcy to subsidize people living over their heads.

Guerilla made a good statement in another thread. The guy that wants $600 a week is going to have to work 60 hours a week instead of 40

Maybe work even more. Wages are going to deflate in real terms, regardless of what happens nominally. There is going to be too much competition for increasingly scarce jobs and resources.

Hon Daddy Dad posted an excellent one hour lecture from Berkley on the collapse of the middle class in another thread. Everyone should watch, regardless of their profession or financial position.

In order to have a recession you need to have 3 consecutive quarters of negative GDP... Let me know when that happens. Otherwise, find another thread to tout doom and gloom.

    Pot, meet kettle....

GDP is meaningless. It measures activity, not the value of the activity.

GDP considers war spending a positive. That's the fallacy of the broken window.

When USA falls into a depression, it means that the world falls into a depression and I doubt the world will be at peace. A shrinking pie may cause more enmity and war than what is happening today. As long as Bush is gone, I believe peace is at sight.
