Were you brought up in a religion but decided to change to another religoin?

    If so, why?

I do expect this to be a dead thread, because it is hard to change what you were brought up to believe, but maybe I will be surprised.

I think alot of people would like to keep this to themselves, since the amount of attacks going around everywhere. But I do know quite alot of catholics in real life that converted to Islam after visiting a mosque and reading the Quran.

I was born into a Sunni Bidatti Muslim family. It was a real messy mix of real Sunni, Shia and Sufi customs.

But now, I am a Tabliki Muslim. Simply speaking, all the old customs and weird, unpractical rituals have been discarded by me.

I try to spend my life as is shown in the Holy Quran. And I am happy my religion is no longer corrupt.

I was born a Hindu; then chose atheism... found it unsatisfying.

So now I'm finally a syncretist.

I was brought up Christian, but I'm agnostic now.

I don't feel that I am missing spiritualism in my life, I just feel that I don't understand it well enough to commit myself (for life) to a particular practice or ideology.

I'd say 99% of my morals are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and old fashioned common sense. I still pray if things get bad enough.
