Would you sell a permanent ad on your site for $1,000?

I'm curious, (and I wasn't sure which section to post this at so I figured General would be okay) but if you have a site which has pretty decent stats, would you sell a permanent ad spot on your site for $1,000? Would you sell a permanent ad spot in general?

If you need more details, I wrote a post on this at http://www.datmoney.com/2008/04/would-you-sell-a-permanent-ad-on-your-blog-for-1000.html

Thanks! I would love some opinions just incase I'm approached on this matter.

It would depend on which of my sites.
Some sites I own only last for a little while, so in that case i'd say yes. Others will last for years, decades even, so in that case no, I could make more money in the long run selling monthly spots or using PPC advertising.

Like others have said I would only do it on a small website. If on a big website I would charge them monthly.

I wouldnt mind. But it might bother you when your site grows and then it will be worth more.

I would prefer to sell monthly links rather than a permanent link.

I think most of you guys said what I was thinking. Well, in my post I mentioned this guy I know, he did exactly that. But he did it because he kinda needed the money. The thing I didn't get is the fact that his site is doing pretty good and I'm sure he's making close to $1,000 a month, maybe?

But that's just like when I was approached by a guy for him to leave permanent text links on my popular blog posts. Of course, I said no.

The main thing about it is having someones logo plastered in the background of your theme... if your site has very good potential, then definitely not! But if you plan on selling it or it's not worth that much, then it's like whatever, you know?
